No reset button, there's nothing to reset in it. If you don't get heat and everything else is working that means that the magnetron tube isn't working.
The tube doesn't work because either it's defective ir it isn't powered. To check which you must open the oven and test the power to the magnetron.
Beware, if you don't know how to do that safely or you don't have a very good voltmeter then don't touch it, the very high tension inside can easily kill you.

Not heating

Hello

Power Supply

Check whether there is a proper power supply. Look to see whether the cord is connected to a grounded 3-prong outlet and the cord is fully plugged in. If the electrical system is built-in and no power cord is visible, replace or reset the household fuse or circuit breaker.

Microwave Functions

Some basic microwave operational steps may affect whether the microwave is heating. Open and close the microwave door, as the unit will not function with the door open, and push "Stop/Clear" to cancel any previous settings, such as the timer, which do not heat the microwave oven.

Setting the Microwave

Once the power to the microwave has been reset, or verified as working, and the microwave is ready to run, select a new cook cycle and press "Start" to see if the microwave begins to run and cook food as expected. Allow the food to cook for the alloted time and then open the microwave door and check to see if the food has cooked or heated. Choose a longer cooking time and restart the microwave if food is heating but is cooking slowly.

Repair

If all efforts to troubleshoot the function and power to the microwave still do not get the appliance heating food as expected, there may be a repair issue that needs to be addressed. Contact professional technician for advice.

Microwave won't heat, timer goes off after 1 minute or so

Microwaves are a quick, convenient solution to the hassle of preparing and cooking hot dinners. They are popular appliances with students and large families where food often needs to be prepared fast. Microwaves use radio wave technology harnessed through an antenna, known as a "magnetron," to create friction between food or liquid molecules, causing them to heat up. Some microwaves can cease to function properly, resulting in the appliance running but failing to produce any heat.

  1. Magnetron
    • Magnetron tubes are often the source of heating problems in microwaves. Before having any repair work done, check the warranty on your microwave. Many companies offer 10-year warranties on magnetron tubes so you may be able to get it repaired professionally for free. Otherwise, unplug the microwave then remove the rear casing with a screwdriver. Locate the tube inside the microwave and check it for burn marks. A burnt tube cannot usually be repaired and will require replacement. A tube that doesn't appear burnt should be tested by a qualified technician to see if it can be repaired.
    High Voltage Capacitor
    • A microwave capacitor holds electricity as the appliance is running. A malfunctioning capacitor can lead to the microwave not heating, along with an irritating buzzing sound. Test the capacitor by first disconnecting the power then removing the wires attached to the capacitor. A capacitor with burn marks is usually damaged beyond repair and will require replacement. A capacitor can be tested by connecting each of the probes of an ohmmeter to the capacitor terminal. Each probe should provide a reading of infinity if the capacitor is working properly.
    Power Diode
    • The diode in a microwave oven is a one-way pathway that channels electricity from the capacitor. A malfunctioning diode can sometimes be the cause of a microwave that won't heat. The heating problem is often accompanied by a loud buzzing noise. You can test the diode by first unplugging the microwave oven, disconnecting the diode from the capacitor then measuring the level of electricity inside the diode with an ohmmeter. The ohmmeter can determine whether the electricity in the diode is flowing in one direction as it should. In most cases, the magnetron tube will have to replaced as well if the diode is damaged.
    Safety
    • Disconnecting the plug from your microwave to carry out an inspection does not guarantee safety. Even an unplugged microwave still has electricity running through its components, which can lead to severe electric shocks. Unless you have previous experience in dealing with electrical appliances, it is advisable to hire a technician to test component parts rather than undertake the job yourself. Anyone without a basic knowledge of electrical currents and safety should avoid testing components altogether.

My kenmore microwave will not heat, everything seem to be functioning but the food does not heat.

Assuming all lights are functioning, etc. Is there anyway that it has been set in the timer only mode? Usually a microwave ( their little computer operating system)can be reset, by unplugging and leaving unplugged for a few minutes then replugging. Depening on the age of the micorwave, it may be simply worn out. the newer ones do not lst anywhere as long as the older ones did..but then they cost a lot less as well.

My samsung microwave oven is not heating up food. It works normally, lights on, food turning on plate, but not heating the food.

if your microwave does everything you have described , and you can hear the cooling fan running as well after you press the start button , you probably have a faulty wave guide. The wave guide is also called a Magnetron Tube. It is the main part of the microwave which produces the microwave energy . If this part is not functioning it is best to replace the entire unit, rather than have it repaired .

The microwave turntable and timer seem to be functioning normally, but the food fails to heat.

this is likely to be the magnatron,,(spelling may be wrong) thats the part that heats the food up,,they can just go "pop!" and stop working,,,
there very pricy parts to buy and fit so to be honest you would be better off getting a new unit,

I ran the microwave with nothing in the oven (obviously by mistake). Now it won't heat the food. Timer, clock, etc works. Is there a simple part that I can replace to solve this problem or have I killed...

You can replace the magnetron tube and , the heating will be restored. this is repairable.

Most magnetron tubes will run in the 120 to 140 dollar range.

Have GE JVM2050 over the range microwave, which stopped heating food and water since this morning. All other functions including light, key pad, clock, turntable work normal. The magnetron sound also

if everything works except the heating, it is most likely the mag tube is on its way out.........that is the most common reason for it not too cook.......since the microwave is a GE and it is 3.5 years old, i would say you are better off buying a new microwave, the mag tube starts at around $70.00 and up + the labor it costs too have a service person put it in........around another $60.00
