Question about Car Audio & Video

1 Answer

My Pioneer DEH-1900MP CD receiver won't turn on. The manual doesn't help. The battery on my car died because of a broken brake light switch -- the brake lights were on all night. My mechanic replaced the switch. When I picked the car up, the receiver would no longer go on. Is there any way to reset it, or is it more likely that something happened to the wiring when the brake light switch was being worked on? What should I do? (The battery has died prior to this when I had this CD receiver, and it was not affected.) Thank you for your help!

    Hi,

I'm the original owner of this receiver. It was installed at Best Buy, where I bought it. If it had been installed with a radio lock out code, I'd have written it down. I have my receipt, warranty information, and the installation manual, and there's no such information there. I suspect the problem must be the power to the radio. Do you think it's possible that the lines could have been moved in such a way that they're loose? They were in a visible position when I left the car with the mechanic. When I picked the car up, they were no longer visible. They must have been moved "out of the way" when the mechanic was replacing the switch. Does it sound possible to you that something like that could affect the power to the radio? Thanks.

He points me in the direction I should go. I thank him for that. I didn't expect a precise solution. As he says, it could be many things. He told me what to do first. Thank you!

There is no way to know what the tech did if anything, the 1st thing to do is pull the radio out and make sure u have 12 volts to two of the wires with the key on and to one with the key off, the other possibility is that if you didn't install this radio then the original owner a radio lock out code, if that is the case only pioneer can provide the procedure to override it or bypass it, check the power to the radio 1st.

anything is possible, the radio could be defective (seen 100's) or the power to it or the fuse or fuses somehow got blown, since no 2 shops ever wire the radio the same u will need to remove the radio and check the wiring as i instructed in my 1st reply, the is job one for u.

I have the DEH-1200MP model super tuner 3 and it would not power up after battery died and was jumped. There is a fuse at the back of the stereo that I unplugged and plugged back in and then the stereo powered up. I had already checked all of the other fuses. Took me a while to figure this out.

CD player wont work on my DEH-1900MP

Has the humidity ruined the unit?  Is it getting power?  If you have a yacht you can definitely afford a replacement.  They make splash covers and marine quality radios.  Try ebay.
