Question about Campbell Hausfeld Garden

Campbell Hausfield Pressure washer model 1549. After a few years of storage, I cannot prevent the powerful spray leaking from the connection between the Gun and the Lance. I replaced the O-Ring, and tried other means unsuccessfully. Spray from the joint is almost as powerful as spray from the lance nozzle. The Briggs and Stratton engine has been cleaned and operates well. The pump operates well. But the lance connection refuses to seal.

Is the "steel weld" you mention the same as the brand "JB Weld" which may be easier to find?

    Thanks...

The pump and hose were (and are) in fine condition. The joint between gun and lance was the leaking. Two problems found: 1- apparent wear at the joint of the two parts, and 2) orfice in nozzle was caked with a small amount of rust, causing too much back pressure. Dismantling the nozzle, and cleaning and adjusting it repaired the nozzle. I used JB Weld on the joint between lance and gun. That permanently joins the two parts. After performing engine maintenance, and fixing the lance, all is well and the pressure washer looks and operates as new. Thanks for your comments.

Lance and gun problem fixed. Nozzle maintenance along with fusing the lance to the gun with JB Weld fixed the problem. Engine and pump still fine - no problem there.

Hello,

Most likely, the housing has split and seal is not being made. There is a chance that the hose is leaking where the fitting is crimped on (my experience, but different pressure washer). Are you able to see a leak when turned off but garden hose is connected and turned on?

Is it possible that water was still in the hose / gun and froze while it was in storage?

Hello. Your best bet is probably to replace the gun and lance. It sounds as if it is worn to the point that the O-ring just doesn't seal it off any longer. The only other thing you could try is this: go to a hardware store and get a tube of steel weld. This will stick to those parts and create a permanent weld which will stop the leak. The only drawback would be getting those pieces apart again. J.

You are probably missing the washer or O-ring. Loosen and separate then check. It may also be a broken O-ring.

Wanting to adjust my cut off pressure down...its at 135 now but have in line tank, campbell switch 60 gallon

If I read your problem you would like to decrease your pressure setting on a campbell hausfield compressor, this usually can be done by turning the 3/8" nut (typical) counter clockwise which decreases the spring tension on the pressure plate allowing less pressure to break the points. Hope This Helps Don

I have a Campbell Hausfield wheelbarrow type compressor model #vt617206aj that will not stop making air, just builds and builds until emergency relief vave opens. please help

It sounds to me that you have a defective regulator valve assembly.

This is not a trivial problem. It should be repaired and NOT used until it is repaired.

The emergency relief valve is there for a reason --- to prevent an explosion of the pressure vessel if the regulator does not shut it off.

This is not a do-it-yourself type of repair. A machine shop, or even a welding shop could probably do this repair for you.

If the compressor is an older one or a low value compressor, deep six it and get a new one.

Air Compressor won't go over 35PSI

Hello, Your air compressor is leaking in the cylinder and is unable to produce more than the 35psi. Unfortunately oilless air compressors do not last very long. The rings and cylinders wear out. I have successfully repaired some units but, I usually recommend buying the oil type compressor. They last forever. If you want to try and repair it let me know and I'll help you. Good luck.

No air pressure past 60PSI on a 125PSI Campbell Hausfield WL61110

Your comperssor is oilless type and suffers from short cylinder / piston life. When the compressor no longer reaches cycle pressure the cylinder / piston should be replaced. These parts are available at www.chpower.com I believe that the part number is wl210300aj. Not expensive, enjoy.
