Question about KitchenAid KP26M1X Stand Mixer

1 Answer

As soon as I turn it on it launches into a very high speed then stops. I bought it in December of 2008 and have not used it that much either. on an average about once every month. I am very sad as I had always wanted one and had to save up for a long time to buy it.

If it runs at high speed only; even on low settings; it's probably a defective speed "hall" sensor.

It just quit while I was using on high speed.

The lady's model is a K45SS and it does not have a Hall Effect Senor, Her machine di not go to high speed, it STOPPED!!, and that is all we know. If the mixer motor still runs or operates then it is a gear problem and yes it would be the nylon worm gear made to fail in order to protect the motor from burning out. if it won't start at all no noise or movement then it is an electrical problem and it could be the speed control switch the brushes the phase control board the govorner or the motor. what is needed is more information from the lady seeking help.

Kitchenaid Professional HP mixer, motor stopped while making dough. I let everything cool down and with no attachments it will not turn on. As soon as you turn it on the motor gets hot but no noise or...

Open the Transmission Housing and remove the two screws holding
the Motor. Lift it off the gears and test run it by itself. The motor
should run normally at different speeds. If it does, then you can move on
to the gears. Manually turn the Worm Gear and make sure nothing got jammed.
The Bevel Gear should turn smoothly.

When I turn on my Kitchenaid mixer at any speed, it ramps up to high speed and then shuts down after maybe 30 seconds.

You need a reputable repairman. My gears were stripped after trying to mix a very thick dough. It would only work on high speed. After it was repaired.... I still use it, all the speeds work, and that has been 15 years ago. My mixer was at least 8 years old at the time of the "stripping".

either the electrical motor brushes are worn down on the motors commutator and can no longer contact the motors commutator bands,or if its a newer style mixer the triac that controls the speeds on the unit could have opened up and can no longer supply variable or even high speeds

K45SS cycles on low speed, then has only one higher speed

It sounds like you may have an issue with either the governor assembly and or the main control. If the speed you are getting is constantly going up an down in RPM then this could indicate that the governor has simply become worn and its resistance is gone. If however you get no speed at all and then all of a sudden you get a high speed then it will most likely be the main control. Part number for the governor assembly is 17830. Part number for the main control is 240904−2. Both are relatively simple and cheap to replace. Hope this helps

Thanks

I just got a KitchenAid INC Classic model K45SS-won't turn off

Yes it sounds like it should be easy to fix. You will need to establish what is preventing the speed control mechanism from moving as it should. It sounds mechanical. Try removing the back cover and checking what moves (or doesn't) when the speed lever is moved.

Panasonic Mixer/Blender not working - works only when tapped

It looks like there may be some loose wire connection. Or it may be due to carbon brush probelm. We at Inno Concepts or any of our dealers can diagnose and fix the problem for a reasonable cost. Please contact us at 770-594-1815 or send us an email with all the details to info@innoconcepts.com

For grinding hard vegetables, use thinner pieces not more than 1/2" in any dimension.

I had a similar problem where the mixer would also go to fast speed right away. On the back at the top was a screw that was loose. After tightening this screw I had 4 speeds but no stir speed. I unscrewed that screw and a bolt fell out. This bolt went to threads on the inside of the area covered by that back plate. I put that bolt back on and tightened it and the corresponding one on the other side and wala the mixer works perfectly at all speeds. Hope it helps. Make sure mixer is unplugged before attempting anything like this (wires are exposed when the back plate is removed - some kind of flexible circuit board).
