Suction is 70 psi and amps taking arround 14-is it ok?suction preassure should be how much?

70 is perfect on suction if inside temperature is close to 76

65 PSI TO 70 PSI IS THE SAME SUCTION PRESSURE FOR ALL TON SPLIT AC OR THERE IS DIFFERENT SUCTION PRESSURE IN ON CONDITION?


Your suction pressure will always vary depending on many variables. What type of freon??? If you find your freon type on a PT CHART(PRESSURE/TEMPERATURE), 65-70 psig will have a temp that is 38-41°f. Most evap coils should be a bit warmer but not much. BUT, again variables! Coils are clean, indoor temp, blower speed, return air opening, supply ducts. Also superheat should be a factor. If you have 65-70psig, that freon temp(per pt chart r22) is 38-41°f, then using a temp sensor/meter to measure the actual temp of the suction line. Subtract 38-41 from the actual temp and that give us a superheat reading. This # should be around 8-12°. But again variables! If the unit has an expansion valve? Seems like you are close if its r22.

First check to make sure condenser fan is running during freeze cycle. Now check to make sure condenser coil is clean. Her is all the specks on the machine.
1. Ice production ( 500 at 70/50
2. BTUs per hour ( 7000)
3. Maximum times in Minutes. ( 50 freeze, 14 harvest.
4. Refrigerant charge ( R-404A ) ( A-D series: AC 32oz, WC 20 oz. E series AC 23 oz, WC 14 oz, F series AC 23 oz, WC 13 oz
5. Suction pressure ( PSIG ) 35-37 - end of freeze, 120-125-Peak in harvest.
6. Discharge pressure ( PSIG ) 240-260- 5 min in freeze.
165-175- minimum in harvest.
7. Metering device.( TXV plus distributor, E series and higher have two TXVs. superheat 3 to 15 deg F.
8. Average comp.amps. 10-11 during freeze, 11-12 during harvest.
9. Batch Weight. 6.5-7 lb
10. cycle time, 23 minutes @ 90/70. 19 minutes @ 70/50

I use to do a/c work many years ago, forgot a few things. like what the pressure should be on the low side, 88% out side 77% inside do you have an approx. psi. using r22


The back pressure on the suction side should be around 65-70 psi with R-22. Make sure the condenser coil is clean and that the condenser fan is working ok.

Also be sure the indoor filter is clean and that fan is running on high speed.

I have a 99 chevy suburban that won't cool past 60 degrees and when idling is at 70 degrees. I have replaced the a/c compressor, orfice tube,the accumilator,rear expension valve, and fan clutch. My low...


These numbers are a little high depsite the high ambient conditions.Amazingly enough ,automotive low side suction pressure will equal the degrees its putting out at the evaporator coil...for instance,70 psi low side pressure will produce about 70 degrees of cooling. At 300 psi on the high side(which is high) this is about as low as the suction pressure will go....you need it to go lower.I would probably be concerned with the freon level as a slight overcharge could boost these numbers.Poor air flow through the condenser can also create a higher head pressure than desired.If possible,I would evacuate and re-charge the system with the correct amount of 134a refrigerant. Try to get those pressures lower...about 250/50 would be a decent pressure value in this ambient condition.Verify good airflow through the coils and pay close attention to any foreign debris like plastic grocery bags or wrappers covering the coils...Ive even seen these make their way between the small gap between the condenser and radiator so use a light and inspect carefully for this.Air flow through that condenser coil is vital and any deficit there will create high head pressure which obviously causes high suction pressures....good luck

check the true psi with the line psi to see if same if psi is good in cooling 225 hi and 70 low on 80'day then compressor is fine and i would start checking for temp difference on the reversing valve sometimes this will cause high suction or high discharge psi shift it manually with by energising it be cooling or heating then pull wire and see how it shifts if shifts good then txv on out door unit could be bad what is the psi in heating on the discharge line going to the indoor unit? most prv's are set at about 350 psi r22 as for suction line size its only hot gas in hp mode os no problem their shows in cooling mode as low suction psi ..hope this helps some also make sure indoor coil is clean!....thanks & rate me
