Question about Washing Machines

1 Answer

I have a Kenmore HE3 front load washer. My problem is that the water will no longer flow into the washer causing an FH error. I have tried to replace the mix valve but this did not resolve the issue. I did call a repair company in and they said that they think the problem is within the wire harness. He thought rather than him spend hours trying to find what wire was causing the problem, I should just purchase a replacement wire harness. He did not think it was the main control unit as everything else seems to work fine. I have checked all of the water lines for blockage etc. I am just wondering if anyone has run into this issue so I don't have to replace each wire harness. Could it be another component? Pressure switch or flow meter? As an FYI I can't get the hot or cold to run. I also replaced the drain pump on this unit about 2 month ago. This is the little black pump held on by 3 screws at the front bottom of the unit. (Under drum). Any help would be appreciated.

No water at all comes in. I don't really hear any humming, just a bunch of clicks which sound like normal processing of the machine, or at least it's trying.
I did remove the flowmeter and blow through it. It seems I could pass air fine through it. Just seems to spin an internal wheel. I replaced it and tried to run a cycle again with the same HF error.
I did a quick look at the pressure hose and it looks okay. I tried to blow through it and It sounded like blowing bubbles in water. I would have to take the rear of the machine off to fully examine the hose.

The flowmeter does seem like a fairly simple part with only 1 electronic connection. I am wondering what would fail with this small plastic part.

I did not see the respond button so I have just added comments to my original question. I hope this helps.

I have tried to go through the diagnostic tests but it always fails at the C:01 test due to lack of water.
If I push past that all of the other tests seem to work except C:03 (Fill hot water.)
You had mentioned drain and spin. It does go through this however I never hear the drain pump kick in to empty what ever water may be in the tub. Even in diagnostic mode it does not seem to run but it does not produce and error either. Is it possible my drain motor is gone again and that is causing all of these issues. It can't see a good drain motor circuit and so does not allow water in?

I did the test C:02 with the dispensing system and the arm does go completely around as I think it should.

Is it worth the money to have a Sears trained Tech come to the house to troubleshoot this issue? With the per hour charges and parts I'm afraid I could almost be approaching the "it's better to buy and new machine" state. This machine is only about 5 - 6 years old. We had a Kenmore top loader for over 12 years with not 1 issue. Very frustrating.

maybe check you dispenser motor the clicking sound usually will be comeing from there and if it can not find a resting place no water will come in.

with the lid removed watch the arm on the dispenser does it turn all the way around or does it lift up at snag? if it snags just pop it down what happens?

just curious what happens when you hit drain and spin?

First try turning off the machine for 30 minutes. Still FH? Then check your inlet valve. Shut off valve, switch off machine & see if the water comes full flow. Check the filters on the machine inlet entry, they could be blocked, clean out.

The FH indicates a fill failure and this is usually caused by a bad water valve, flow meter or pressure switch.

One key to determining the cause of the FH error is how fast the error comes up in a cycle. If the error appears within 1 or 2 minutes then the most likely cause will be the water valve or flow meter.

If the error doesn't appear for several minutes then the pressure switch can be the source of the problem.

Both water valves must be turned on and working. Even if a cold wash is selected at some point during the fill the hot water valve will be energized and if there is no water then the FH error will show up. Sometimes a consumer will turn the hot water valve off to save energy but you can't turn one valve off on this washer.

Inlet valves can be purchased thru the net and fitted by you easily.

My kenmore elite quite pak 2, HE3 shows F then H and quits the cycle.

Hello,

The FH error code mean that no water was detected entering the machine. The things to check are,a pinched or kinked water hose into the washer, the faucets off or if faucets on make sure that something has not restricted the water flow through the hoses..this will be possible espically if they washer is connected using "AQUA FLOW FLOOD STOP" ..the internal flood stopper will cause water flow to be cutoff for no reason. Also check the filter screens on the back of the washer where the fill hoses connect to,for debris in the screens.

If all above checks ok i would suspect the part called the FLOWMETER was defective in the washing machine.

I ordered and bought the control panel part for my kenmore elite front load washer but the washer is still not washing it's flashin FH

fh is a water problem, does it fill with water?....... FH No water detected entering machine or Pressure switch trip not detected. If after 30 seconds the control does not detect water entering machine and then valves will be turned off and the error code will be displayed.
Or
If the control has turned the water valves on and after 8 minutes the flow meter has detected 10.5 gallons of water passing through it, but has not detected the pressure switch trip, the valves will be turned off and the error code will flash.

Press PAUSE/CANCEL twice to clear the display.

Potential Causes

• If there is no water in the unit:
- Make sure that both valves at the water source(s) are turned on all the way.
- Check for plugged or kinked inlet hoses or plugged screens in the inlet valves
- Verify inlet valve operation
• If there is water in the unit:
- Verify Drain pump operation
- Pressure Switch Hose is in good condition and properly connected to Tub and Pressure switch

• Verify there is not a siphon problem
• Verify wire harness connections to; Inlet Valves, Pressure Switch, Drain Pump, Flow Meter, and Central Control Unit (CCU)
• Check all hoses for possible leaks
• Verify pressure switch operation
• Verify flow meter operation
• Verify CCU operation

Replace failed component.

Code F1, does not stop filling, water pours out of soap tray

Are you sure it's not an F/H error?

The F/H code means the unit isn't detecting water fill at the flowmeter. The flowmeter sits just in front of the inlet valve and is attached via a hose, and off to the left of the CCU. Part link to the flow meter==> http://www.repairclinic.com/PartDetail/Flowmeter/1381535?modelNumber=GHW9250MW2
If your washer is filling ok, check the wiring from the flow meter to the control board; I've seen this harness jiggle loose and cause problems.

Kenmore Elite HE3 Error FH I forgot to turn the water hoses on when I started a load. The FH error sounded at 33 minutes of a 45 minute cycle. I can't reset the machine now. It is stuck. It is unplugged....

according to kenmore, you should press the "pause/cancel" button twice and it should release it.  it may also have locked up the CCU, central control module and might need to be replaced.

Getting an FH error code during the cycle count down

The FH code indicates it is not detecting water fill at the flow meter. Since you say that the washer is filling okay, I would check the wiring between the flowmeter and the control board. A common cause of this problem on this machine is the wiring harness jiggling loose. Unplug and reseat the wiring harness and see if it clears up the problem. Also look for and clean out any corrosion build-up where the harness plugs in. Hope this helped and best wishes.

Fh error on kenmore he washer. Washer stopped mid cycle and would not drain. Pulled filter in lower front and water drained but now when I try to run a cycle no water flows and I get a fh error. I changed...

The following link may give you a bit more advice on how to troubleshoot the "FH" error code:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r615354-fh_error_code_whirlpool_duet_kenmore

The problem with this error code is the multiple things that can cause it to be generated. This can often be a bit tricky to troubleshoot. You mentioned you checked the drain pump filter. Keep in mind, if anything had been lodged in the pump impeller for any significant period of time, this could have caused irreparable damge to the pump. If the drain pump is not working, the washer will not begin a wash cycle.

I was going to recommend checking your drain hose placement for a possible siphoning situation, but you stated you had no water coming in. A siphoning situation would allow the washer to attempt to fill, but it will experience problems maintaining the proper water level.

You also mentioned you replaced the water inlet valve. Not to undermine your technical abitlities, but did you install it correctly? Verify your installation again to be sure.

Read through the link provided and look at some of the follow up comments from other users. Although, you say your flowmeter may be good, there seems to be a noted problem with them. One consumer explained to me once to make sure the flowmeter is vertical. If it is horizontal, this can also cause problems. I don't know how true that is, but its worth a try.

Another thing to consider are clogged screens in the water inlet hoses. This could be restricting your water flow. Comments from Andrewgrhogg are especially helpful on how to troubleshoot a possible water inlet valve problem.

I hope I've given you enough the go by. Let me know if you still need assistance.

Washer came up with fh error message. how do i clear this?

The following link explains the "FH" error code:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r615354-fh_error_code_whirlpool_duet_kenmore

This is one of the more challenging error codes to diagnose, because there are so many potential causes. First, try unplugging the washer for AT LEAST 30 minutes in an attempt to reset the Central Control Unit (CCU). Sometimes this is all that is required to correct momentary glitches. If the error code reappears, then I would recommend starting with the easy items to eliminate first. Check your fill hoses and water source, followed by making sure you don't have a siphoning situation. Then, I would recommend checking the drain pump.

Read through the link carefully, and let me knwo if you have questions. If you require additional assistance, please let me knoww before you rate the solution. I hope this helps you.

Kenmore elite he3 flashing FH

The following link explains the "FH" error:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r615354-fh_error_code_whirlpool_duet_kenmore

This can be a rather tough one to figure out, even with the error code explanation. I would recommend unplugging the washer for AT LEAST 30 minutes first. This will reset the Central Control Unit (CCU). In many cases this is all that is required to correct momentary glitches with the unit. If the error code reappears, check your washer installation to rule out the easiest possiblities, first. This means checking to ensure you don't have a siphoning condition, checking your drain lines and checking to ensure your fill hoses aren't kinked or clogged. Read through the link thoroughly and let me know if you have questions. I hope this helps you.
