Question about Texas Instruments TI 810 Matrix Printer
This is a ribbon problem, it needs to be changed. The fact that the lines "slide" to the left prove that the carrier is not going back to its original position every time.
So, the solution is to change the ribbon.

Testimonial: "Thanks! Problem solved! I guess the older, dryer ribbon was causing drag on the printhead or something."
Carriage motor is losing its place. In the bottom right is a motor with a wire rope that moves the print head. The motor keeps its place with a disk and sensor under the cap.
It thinks it's gone all the way back to the left margin but it hasn't. This can be caused by the printhead catching on the paper or ribbon. Try adjusting the printhead out, away from the page with the lever at the end of the carrage bar. This will lighten your print.
You could also clean paper dots and dust out with a air hose. You can wipe the bars down but don't oil them.
The motor could be going bad or the printhead may have a broken pin that remains out.
