Question about Maytag Washing Machines

1 Answer

My maytag washer (about 4 yrs old) quits during rinsing cycle. I took the top off where the wires are to see what I could see. ;) The "buzzer non-adjust" zapped me when I touched it. Could this be what is making the washer quit in the middle of a cycle?

  • Model no SAV515DEWW Serial no 10835173ee I sure appreciate this.

  • I thought I sent my model no. It is SAV515DEWW I just went and put the buzzer-non-adjust back on and the damn washer kicked back on. So, I turned the timer to extract and it's extracting. I have an appt. i will see if it extracted and spun when I get back and get back to you. Mary

  • It finished the cycle. I will start another one tonight. gotta get to work. thank you much!

  • I got home tonight and the washer and stopped during the rinse cycle. Then, while I was standing there it started again. Sounded like it was trying extract water. My new buzzer non-adjust came in the mail, so I switched them out. Did the same thing. Started working, but I could smell an electrical burning smell, that I forgot to mention before and then it stopped, so I just shut it off.

Any time you touch live wires you will get an electric shock
always make sure you turn your power off before making any repairs.
more than likly the answer to your question is no that is not the reason why your washer stops mid cycle
it would either ne your lid switch causeing this and or if you can manually advance your timer to the next step. it is your timer that is failing.
please be careful

  • Thank you. I didn't touch the wires. I touched the little plastic thing that wires hook up to. Manually trying to advance the timer didn't help. I sure appreciate your advice.

can i please get your model number

can you turn the washer back on or advance the timer to a different spot to make it work?
is it only this one point on the timer where it stalls everytime?
    Will it spin and drain?
I need to know more detail.
This model normal faliars are bad bearings, pump, and sometimes the timer.
Have you been hearing a loud noise when it goes into spin. like an airplane takeing off.

Mine the same concern, I took it apart and found the thermo fuse in the motor had a bad terminal. Maytag parts man said you must get a new motor even though the fuse has a part # on it and is easy to change. I made temporary repairs until I find a fuse from a used parts machine. Scott

I own a Maytag Performa 4 Speed/24 cycle Washing machine. it is 4 years old. Problem: A very LOUD grinding sound when washer engages into wash, rinse, spin cycles. The Tub does agitate - but I don't...

sounds like you have a tub seal problem, which took out the bearings, I take it one buzy mom does lots of laundry! Maybe time for a new washer.
