Question about KitchenAid KUIS18NNT 18" Automatic Ice Maker with 35lbs. Storage Capacity, Drop Down Door & Accepts Custom Panels

1 Answer

I have an undercounter KitchenAid Icemaker, Model KU1518NNJX5. When I clean it -- using the KitchenAid solution and the instructions printed on the icemaker's drop-down door -- there is always a clear liquid left in the pan at the end of the cycle. I don't know whether the liquid is the cleaning solution or water, but the instructions indicate that there shouldn't be any solution left or, if there is, the cleaning cycle should be run again. I have 2 questions: (1) If I do re-run the cycle again in this instance, am I supposed to drain the pan by using the cap on the bottom of the pan, then put new cleaning solution in? (2) I have been following the procedure of re-running the cleaning cycle without draining the pan at the end of the first cycle. However, there is always still the clear liquid in the pan even though I re-run the cleaning cycle several times. I could drain the pan myself by removing the cap at the bottom of the pan, but it seems like the cleaning cycle isn't working based on the instructions printed on the door. What should I do? Thanks for your help!.

The answer is very simple for bothe questions.
Fist of all the use of cleaning solution with the auto cleaning is suposed to be for the cleaning and at the same time sanitising the machine and storage bin.
The end cycle of the auto cleanig is a rencing with fresh water so to remove any remainings of the above solution for all over the machine.
If you see any liquid at the end of the cleaning cycle if it is clear is onle water since even the small amount of solution to be mixed with water you could see some color reflections from light.
So if its crystal crean the is onle water.
So as you may undestant if you have any doubts that their are solution remainings then if you deside to re-run the cleaning cycle then you will not use any moe solution so the machine parts are qrystal crear.
Second the idea of drain the bottom of the pan is recomented so not to have the remaining water with the ice that will be produced.
Hope this help you, good luck

Need trouble codes for a Kitchenaid dishwasher

If you are getting a particular code then I could help you find the solution.
However, the full service manual can be purchased for about $10 from here and would have all the codes.

Hi, I am a KitchenAid employee and would appreciate the opportunity to assist you with your icemaker. If you send an email to with 'Attn: Audrey' in the subject line, I can forward you a copy of the use and care manual, which includes installation instructions. It would also be helpful if you would include your serial number as well.

Icemaker not working...

Hi, first , pour about 2/3 cup of water into the ice maker . If if freezes , and dumps , replace the water valve. If it does not dump the cubes , replace the ice maker. After pouring the water into the ice maker , remove the bottom kick panel , and clean the bottom coils , of dust , lint , pet hair , etc , as this will raise the freezer temp . An ice maker has to be 5 degrees , to operate , correctly . If ice maker starts working , after cleaning the coils , GREAT ! ( it does happen ) .

Take care
