SOURCE: Air leakage through pressure switch needle

1)Let your unit pump up.
2)Turn it off.
3)Find the supply line from the pump to the tank.
4)Remove the supply line from the pump head.
5a)If you hear air coming from the tank you have a bad check valve.
5b)If you do not hear air coming from the tank, you have a leaky
pressure switch.

SOURCE: 6 gallon proforce air compressor not building any pressure

You might have a broken valve. You'll need to pull the head apart. But make sure replacement parts are available first. Does this unit have an unloader valve on it ? That could also be your problem. You probably should check this first

SOURCE: my air compressor won't restart

minimum pressure check valve is bad , does the compressor when it shuts off bleed air out at the pressure switch , if so does it continue till it starts back up , if so the unit is trying to start under a load. You have a bad minimum pressure valve usually located where the air line goes into the tank.

QGS-50 compressor runs fine for a couple hours then trips the breaker it runs about 180-200 deg allready replaced thermostat and cleaned coolers also when it reaches full pressure and unloads it doesnt...

Check the size of the breaker in your electric panel, then check the motor name plate on compressor. Make sure you know what voltage you have to determine switch amp draw that your motor will be pulling. Once you have the amp draw multiply that # by 1.75. That is the smallest breaker that you can use. If you take the same amp draw and multiply by 2.25 that is the largest breaker that you use. Somewhere between those two numbers there is a breaker out there for you, unless your panel is to small.

Compressor shuts down and will not allow enough pressure run machine

Sounds like the oil is low or the cooler is dirty. If that's not the case then you have a defective thermal valve.

Compressor has no oil pressure but seems to be running good

If you're sure its not just a bad oil pressure gauge, and there is no pressure, the oil pump is probably bad. If you don't run it hard, it may still last awhile, running more like a "splash lube" compressor. Still, if this is a pressure lubed Quincy, it's a good compressor - I'd fix the oil pump and it'll last for years.

Kicking overloads but not consistantly

First: Most all compessors use check valves at the tank and an unloader to allow the compressor to start without a load. Make sure that system is unloading and that check valve is not leaking causing head pressure at start. Second: Too frequent starts and stops will cause motor to overheat. Check Quincy manual for max starts per hour. enjoy
