Question about Computers & Internet
The problem seems like over-heating. That explains why it shut off in a couple of minutes when turned on again. To verify this you can either wait for a short period of time to allow it to cool down or, install this software called speedfan.
If the temperature of the CPUs(Core 1 and Core 2 if its dual core) and HDD0 are in the range of 65-70 degrees Centigratde when it shuts off then its confirmed that its an overheating problem. You may have to disassemble the laptop to locate the heatsink and see if the fan that disperses the heat from is blocked by something. I had a similar problem a couple of months back and I found a large pile of dust preventing airflow from reaching the end of the heatsink(near the vent). Removing it had solved the problem.
