Electric dryer will not work at all?

If the electric dryer does not work at all then there are some possibilities that have to be checked to confirm the fault.
1) Check whether you are getting power to the dryer from electric out let to which the dryer is connected. The power problem can also occur if the fuse is blown or the circuit breaker is got tripped.
2) Other possibility for dryer not working is the blown thermal fuse. The thermal fuse is located to the exhaust duct inside the back cover panel. This fuse blows out if the dryer gets overheated or any short circuit occurs in the house when dryer is in working.
3) One more reason for dryer not working at all is the fault in the door switch. The dryer will not start working till the door is closed. But if the door switch or the door-switch actuator is got cracked or worn out or loose then door will not get closed properly and dryer will not work. In this case check the door switch/actuator and replace it if required.
4) But if all the above mentioned possibilities checks out OK, and still the same problem, then there is a fault in the wiring. Check the main power cord of the dryer which you connect in the electric out let. If the power wire is got internally burned out or got cut in between the dryer will not get power and will not work.
This will help. Thanks.

My Kenmore Dryer will not start. We replaced the Receptacle but it still will not start.

Make sure the dryer is getting power by checking the breakers. The dryer usually has a drum lamp that turns on only when the door is open. Power is indeed getting power if the lamp turns on. If not, either the lamp is busted, the door switch is not working, or the dryer is not getting power at all.

The problem is likely a blown thermal fuse if the dryer is getting power. This thermal fuse is wired in series with the motor and if it blows, power to the motor is terminated and the motor cannot run. No dryer function works when the motor cannot run. Click on the link below for the detailed procedure in checking for such condition.

Frigidaire Crown dryer will not start. Has power to it

Check the following to address this issue.

1. No power to the dryer
Make sure there's power getting to the dryer. Check for a tripped circuit breaker or a blown fuse. Check the wall socket for power with a voltmeter or by plugging something else in. Sometimes the power cord disconnects or burns at the dryer, if this is the case, the wiring and the terminal block must be repaired or replaced.

2. Door switch / Door switch actuator lever
The dryer would not start with a broken door switch. Replace the door switch if found defective.

Most dryers have a door switch actuator lever - when you close a dryer door, it presses against the lever, which actuates the door switch. If the lever is broken, the switch would not activate and the dryer would not start. Replace the lever, if broken.

Note: Door switch actuator lever usually comes with the door switch assembly and it is recommended to get the whole assembly since there is almost no price difference between the door switch assembly and just the lever. Check your model for more details.

Not getting power

Sounds like maybe a door switch, thermostat or the thermal fuse. You can check for continuity across the terminals with dryer unplugged. Usually the thermal fuse and thermostats are located by the heating element

Doesn't turn on after power outage

that dryer has 240 volts going to it and is a basic dryer with a timer,i don't think it's the dryer i think you have an issue with the fuse, breaker or something to do with the power going to the dryer,if this had a computer board in it then i would say that the board could have been damaged by the power serge when the power came back on,check the fuse or breaker first, then unfortunately you'll have to get into the dryer and get to the back and make sure you're getting 240 volts to where the cord connects to the dryer,it still could have damaged the dryer but i would start with the power supply first, bad or triipped breaker or fuse.hope this helps

Dryer heating element

There is a fuse in the dryer for the heat.
Before tearing into the dryer, make sure the power getting to the dryer is absolutely correct. (check power with the dryer running) Even with incorrect power to the dryer. the drum will still turn but there will be no heat.
Many a person has paid for expensive service calls for the problem you are having only to discover by the servicer that there was nothing wrong with the dryer but had bad power to the dryer......
