Hello. Your machine is a bit of a collectors' item. Could not lovate a manual or parts but here is some info you may find helpful
The usual way to use a pop corn popper is to:
1st - add oil
2nd - add popcorn
3rd - add any seasoning (if using the pre-packaged "theater" popcorn mix).
DO NOT add butter into the popper, as it will burn quickly and make for some foul tasting pop corn.
You can always add butter and salt to taste AFTER the pop corn is done popping.
Rather than searching for parts or an upper unit, consider charging a quarter a bag toward the purchase of a new or reconditioned machine. J.

thank you for your suggestion -- please -- how many ounce is Model 49D -- you have page numbers in your suggetion -- can't seem to find items we need
appreciate the online store -- but we have no idea how many oz. the 49D machine is -- please inform us -- you gave us page numbers but there is no page numbers on the computer
our non profit Lion's Club has a 49D corn popper which does not or hardly stirs after third or 4th panful -- also handle does not catch about the same time -- do you have parts - please tell us the oz. size of this 49D popper
