Try turning the breaker off and turning it on a couple of times
you should have a double 30 amp breaker for the dryer

My Samsung dv5471aepxac01 dryer tubler runs even though the dryer is off

check ur power source and make sure ur getting a full 220 and not just 110 as if ur only getting half the current then u will have enough power to run the machine which only takes 110 but not enough to run the heating as that takes a full 220

OR you may have a broken centrifugal switch in the motor because this switch activates the motor and the heater as well. supposed to be if the motor does not run , the heater should not heat in order not to create fire but you said that even the motor is not running, the heater is still heating, then there could be a problem with the motor centrifugal switch that is connected to this interlock switch that should trigger the heater.

Dryer runs for two hours or so and then will not restart

sounds like the motor is overheating, check to see if the duct where the lint filter slides into isn't filled with lint, when was the last time you cleaned out the dryer?also check the vent line to see if it's blocked,if it's a long run from the dryer to the outside you can use a leaf blower to blow it out, also vac off the motor and inside the dryer where the motor is,you should do this once a year so you don't have a fire and so your dryer runs like it should,if you have a shop vac blow off the motor and you can blow the lint from the back of the dryer to the front so you don't have to remove the belt and pull out the drum,a layer of lint builds up on the motor overheating it and damaging the motor, also check the outside vent to make sure that isn't blocked with anything, you might have already did some damage to the motor, hopefully after you clean out the dryer your clothes will dry sooner and the motor will last, try not to do one load after another so the motor has time to cool down

I have a Estate Whirlpool model#TGD5740. Smells like smoke when running. Still drys with heat and runs fine. What would cause this

You could have a build up of lent inside the dryer which might have ignited. Dryer should be dissasembled and cleaned.
Could be that your motor is over heating.
Depends on what type of smell your smelling;.If its the motor over heating, motor would have to be replaced.

Whirlpool dryer WED5530SQ0, heats but does not run

So,. basically your drum doesnt turn. SO your getting heat still even though the drum isnt turning. Is this right? Sounds strange??? Do you hear any humming noise when you push the start button? I need to know a little more about the problem because im kinda confused as how you decribed the problem. Iv never seen a dryer heat but the drum not spinning. especially your model dryer. Its electric heat right? because if the drum doesnt spin, maybe your motor is bad. and if your motor is bad, then your heating element wont heat up because the centrifical switch in the motor is not switching to complete the circuit to the heating element. So this is why im confused when you said" Dryer heats when knob turned but when "push button" pressed, drum doesnt run." Because your belt wraps around the motor pully and the motor is what makes the drum turn. Like i said, i never seen this model dryer heat with out the motor operating. So if you can give me some more info, ill do my best to help you out....Thanks!!!!

Dryer will not heat but will run.

Hope this info helps, ps don't forget to give me a rating thanks!!

For an electric dryer that runs but doesn’t heat, follow this repair roadmap:
Flip the circuit breaker off and then back on. Electric dryers run on a two-pole, 240v breaker. A common problem is for one of the legs to break which cuts the 240v that the elements need to heat up but it still supplies the 120v for the motor. The result is that the dryer runs but doesn’t heat.
If the breaker checks out, then it’s time to do some surgery. Unplug the dryer and open it up.
. Use your ohm meter to test the thermostats. All should show continuity.
Measure the resistance of the heating element with your ohm meter. Normal readings are in the neighborhood of 30 ohms.
In rare cases, the centrifugal switch in the motor can fail which breaks the power circuit for the heating elements. If this is the case, then the entire motor must be replaced since the centrifugal switch is built into the motor.

Whirlpool dryer won't run

This sounds like something may be mis-wired...or there may be a defective switch contact in the timer or one of the other controls. If the heater element comes on with the blower motor not running, it should quickly overheat and trip one of the thermal shutoff switches.

If the motor can run, check the fuses in the house's panel. Electric dryers run on two phases of the 220-240 volts outlet; the motor on one phase, the heating coil on both phases. One of the two fuses may be burned out.

REMOVE the fuses before touching any component inside the dryer's housing.

If the fuses are OK, check if the the switch resting on the motor itself, has not burned terminal or wires.

Check if the heating coil is opened (burned)
