We have eureka forbes trendy steel vacuum cleaner of canister type but we dont have the instruction manual.how to join the parts and how to use.

It should be a standard Eureka U belt. That number you have is not a good number. Most repair shops should have this one. The R belt is a real thin and different material.

1 ) That unit cannot shut off the airflow to hose while unit is used in upright position. The hose is in constant use, whether you are using attachments, or vacuuming the floor.
2) It does sound like you have a clog somewhere in the unit. Most often it is the grey filter screen is full, (which is located just above the dust cup...instructions found on sticker on back side of dust cup) which causes everything to clog or back up. You should check this piece every time the dust cup is emptied.
3) To check for clog in main hose, remove the square clear hose adapter (with a phillips screwdriver) from the back of the unit and pull out the grey plastic attachment end of hose from the side of the unit by the duster, and unwrap the longest part of hose from vacuum and lay it on the floor. Get a quarter or a nickel and while holding the clear square adapter end of hose up , drop the coin into the hose, shake the hose to see if the coin will roll all the way out the other end of hose onto the floor. If it comes out, re-attach the hose adapter , making sure the little foot is in place, and with the dust cup locked in place, turn the unit on, test suction at end of the hose, it should be strong. But, if itdoesn't come out, there is a clog. The grey plastic hose retainer at the bottom of the unit is open where you can stretch it over the hose and free the hose from the unit.Take something like a mop handle or broom handle,(I've also found a long dryer lint brush to be helpful) insert into the hose to break the clog loose. Repeat the coin test. When the coin comes through, reattach the hose.Test for suction.
4) To test the lower portion of hose for a clog (from the duster unit to the brushroll area in base) with the attachment end of the main hose out of the hole, you should be able to look down the opening and see into the lower portion where the hose curves into the base. Drop your coin in the opening (not in the duster tube) it should, with gravity, roll out to the floor. However, it may stop at the brushroll, so tilt your unit forward, and side to side to see if it comes out. If that doesn't make it come out, there is a clog in that lower hose.
5) To clear the clog, recline the handle all the way down on its back( again like vacuuming under a bed) roll the unit on its "belly", you should see the lower hose straighten out more, Insert something blunt into it, broom handle, or a bent wire coat hanger (bend to protect hose from puncture) and you should be able to clear the clog. If it still wont clear the clog, remove the 4 screws from bottom of unit and take hood of unit off to see the opening of bottom end of lower hose, near the brushroll. Clean out clog from that end. Once cleared, stand unit upright, re-test with the coin until coin rolls out freely. Put all parts of unit back together.
6) Make sure the height adjustment pieces are still attached to bottom of unit. (the plastic piece with 2 wheels and a spring) Reset this component, by reclining the handle in normal operating position, lean down turn height knob on hood to the highest carpet setting, and flip it slowly over to the bare floor setting, do this back & forth 4 times... over & back is 1, etc...then determine your carpet height...( berber is like normal carpet ) set the knob (with handle still reclined) on the middle setting, then place unit back in upright position. Test the vacuum for approx. 1 minute. While testing the unit, look into the dust cup and see if the dirt is swirling. If it isn't, then check the dust cup filter,(under the dust cup) to make sure it is clean. If it is coated with dirt, etc...,remove the filter tray , pinch the foam filter and pull out of tray.Tap the filter over a trash can, or replace it if you have a replacement foam filter handy. Replace foam filter in the tray, replace filter & foam into unit, close the lid, replace the dust cup and lock in place. Re-test vacuum.
7) If all the above steps are followed, this should prevent future clogs in unit.

Surfacemax 300 yellow eureka vac. is there a belt? if so , what is the belt number and how do you change the belt? most vaccs have this info on the product a is not ablet to locate this info. tnanks


On the top yellow part above the rollerbrush, there are two screws. Take them out. Insert your fingernail into the part where the yellow meets the rubber and lift. The yellow should pop off. Follow the directions printed on the label inside, directly above the rollerbrush to change the belt.

Your vacuum SHOULD have come with a replacement belt as well as an instruction guide. The instructions for replacing the belt are there. If you don't have this, well, that's why I typed this out. :) You can purchase a belt on eureka.com by looking under customer service, and putting in your model number. This is located on the label on the back of the vacuum, under where the cord goes through that loop thing.

I need to replace the belt on my eureka canister vac. have the belt and screwdriver, now what? how to get the housing off? etc.


Can you please specify the type of model that you have? The model that you listed this repair question under, the S3686 doesn't even have a belt on the vacuum cleaner. The model number can be found on the bottom of the vacuum on a sticker that also contains the serial number.

Please just use the clarification request form here on Fixya, and I will then even take some pictures on how you need replace the belt.

The little plastic latch that holds the canister in place (the lower part that is recessed) is broken. I need to find a new part to replace it. I cannot seem to find one so far...most sites just offer replacement bags/filters....etc.

Eureka canister vacuum model 6865- cleaning


70227 is the part number for the owner manual, but you would have to have it order it. You can call 1-800-282-2886, this is Eureka's customer service, they don't have it in their data base, but maybe they can find something for you.
