SOURCE: Panasonic DMR-E85 DVD recorder TV Guide problem

Unit must get the TV guide from an analog station. If cable company goes digital you loose the data. If the station that hosted TV guide goes digital you loose the data. This unit does not have a digital ATSC tuner only analog NTSC tuner. If you are still getting analog data there are a few capacitors on the power supply under the hard drive that bulge up and cause problems. They should be replaced with higher voltage rating types.

To setup your IR Blaster (transmitter), hold down the channel up and down button at the same time on you the unit for more than 5 second until the unit says bye and 12:00 flashes, then power on unit and the setup screen will come on your TV.

Pan. dmr-e85h turned itself on, self-check

Open case and look for failed capacitors, which are cylindrical and will have a bulging top and a yellow/gold substance leaking out. If this is the problem, search for previous solutions that mention "solder capacitor C1260" for the DMR-E85. I had a similar 'no power' problem with my DMR-E55 and my son and I were able to fix it Sunday. Not hard to do and mine is working again!

Panasonic DMR-E85Hp dvd won't turn on now.

The power supply board on the DMR-E85H has problems. The earlier boards suffered from leaking capacitors and the later boards from voltage regulator problems. If your machine is now dead, the fuse on the power supply board has also blown.Go to the following links for details and photos on how to fix:Replacing capacitors:http://www.fixya.com/support/t216825-dvd_recorder_frozen_please_wait_displayReplacing the voltage regulator:http://www.rbjtech.net/electrical/e85/e85.htm#0Hope this helps. My machine had the later ps board and the voltage regulator replacement worked perfectly.

PLEASE WAIT

I contacted Panasonic about the "PLEASE WAIT" on display and after a few attempts to fix I was told that it would cost $130 minimum to repair. Then I found I had the same problem that hpwhite & RandyChev described "PLEASE WAIT" on display. I followed their very precise and informative directions and found that I also had two bad (bulging) caps, C1270 & C1271 Thanks to the pictures he posted, I was able to find replacement 1000uf 35v Radio Shack #272-1032 capacitors and replaced them with no problems. I then was able to power it back up and all of my information was still on my hard drive, even the correct time in the display. If you can find RandyChev's description with the pictures, it is very easy to understand

You must replace the inside "str" sheet feeding and condenser close. Everything back to normal. :-)

Dmr e85 will not start up

Hi Audi,
Try unplugging the hdd & then turn on the dvd recorder & wait for about 5 minutes.
Then unplug the dvd recorder & plug in the hdd & turn back on the dvd recorder to see if that fixes the problem.
