Try tapping scroll lock twice then arrow keys. sometimes you need to start the server/computer with the kvm plugged in to get the computer to "recogize" the KVM is there. otherwise it looks for other devices Always start the computer with KVM on the respective channel. Then use it to switch. Cheers.

Do you mean two servers or a windows virtual machine on top of Linux? If it's the latter, look for information on kvm, xen, or virtualbox (or any number of other systems).

Can,t send email to asosa@bsisd.esc18.net

Two thing that might help:
  1. This domain does not ping. Meaning it's unresponsive to network communications / acknowledgements.
  2. It does a DNS (Domain Name Server) translation and resolves to http://www.bigspringisd.net/.
So try asosa@bigspringisd.net

Good Luck

On model f1de108c, what does error code E7 mean? Yes I'm a newbe.

If you have this KVM device hooked up to a master surge or surge protector:

  • Power it down
  • Unplug the all kvm cables
  • Unplug power cable
  • Check the DIP switches and make sure they are all set to OFF position
  • Re-connect the power cable only
  • Press and hold the + and - buttons together for 30 seconds
The Bank Display should read, "15".
If it does not, then check to see if you are using converters or adapters on the KVM and/or Server End.
If you are, you'll need to remove them.

Next
  • Unplug the power cable
  • Set all the DIP switches to ON
  • Re-connect the power cable
  • Press and hold the + and - buttons for 30 seconds again.
  • Bank Display should be set to "00".
  • Unplug the power cable
  • Connect your VGA, Kybrd, and mouse cable
You should now check and see the OSD coming up on the screen.
To get into the On-Screen Display (OSD) menu, press SCROLL LOCK, SCROLL LOCK,
SPACEBAR on your keyboard.

You should be able to see your master or server computer on the list.

Well the adapters are the main cause, its not that they do not work, but most of the times it causes the KVM to malfunction, hence not recommended. Apart from that if the KVM is connected to a surge master it causes the error.
But not to worry, now that we have reset the KVM it should not be a problem.
The + and - buttons actually releases the static current from the KVM.

Have a great day!

Fuzzy image on HP GL360 Server

It need'nt be a software issue. If the KVM is fine with other servers in the rack, the the problem could be due to the resolution of the server u mention. Try a remote desltop connection and verify the resolution.

Also try restarting the KVM.

If the KVM is having problem with other servers also, then it is the problem with the KVM itself

KVM unresponsive

Greg,

Try swapping the KVM cables from the 2008 computer into the Vista computer and see if the problem follows the 2008 computer. This KVM gets the drivers it needs from the OS and the IOGear web site does not show any support for 2008.

KVM Switch 4110 8 port

so is the KVM (control side, PS2 mouse / kbd>??)
or are all PS2 ports wired to adaptors,? i cant guess this nor what was used before, no history stated.
what was there before, this act?
and what now?
Ill assume worse cases (tossed a coin)
18 (16+2) adapters now. all devices are USB but KVM
ok.?

what mode fails, both the KVM pushbotton switch and or the hot key commands on the kbd?
Oops no manual button as seen on modern KVM.

KVMs are very complex. the hard part is the vast number of different PC.
USB , PS2, VGA, DVI and HDMI.. yah,..
OK 16 +2=18 x ps2, and 9 VGA ports. it is.
NO KVM does it all, ,, old KVM' do NOT work , on new computers, all folks know this , if they tried. or took readings to learn why it fails.
I bet power to the KVM is dead., no LED./
no manual button ,oops.
pin 4 PS2 reads 5vdc and connected up, same?
we use breakout boxes (DIY) to test ports connected.'

that Compaq is very old and no support now, no books.
why not ask at real HP, maybe some old guy there can dig it lost books>
40 KVM? that what you said, really? (or 40/8=5 kvm)?
my guess is the adaptor does not work or power issues
KVM >>PS2>>>ADapt>>> USB.(server) (usb 1,2,or 3 at server?)
The KVM in most cases, here, steals power from PS2 ports but not this KVM , its better.
i'd bet that adaptor cant do that.
(is the caps lock key working on the KBD and laser LED glowing on said mouse?

ask here, real HP.
lets see tests:
1: pin 4 ps2 5vdc?
2: mouse glows?
3: keyboard led , caps lock toggles? (glows)
4: lost the hot key commands (y/n)

one other problem is the BIOS in the server may not like your adaptor at all. When BIOS scans the keyboard. it expects a ID response if missing or grabled, it drops that device port.

btw, one way to cure this, is run headless server software
end KVM for ever.

i run a LAMP server, that comes in the box, no kvm no any thing on ports. it has a web page to go to and do service that way.
port IP+:12321
modern ways work best.
in a server farm, a keyboard/mouse/monitor on rolling cart
for the super sick servers is best...

the other problem is USB only PC or server
does not scan PS2 ports, it has none
so if the adaption fails, at boot time, all is lost.
(BIOS reports connected devices to the OS)(unstated by you)so if the report fails, problems happen
for sure after the boot.

this device is s business device, now ("Enterprise)
the posts on it are like 10 years ago. all links to books now dead.
infact the compaq server that had them is turned off. (grin)
here is my search there. Why not ask them?
