I see.. Just go to the manufacturer's page ..select teh model and download all drivers for this model and windows 7 ..usually if they are not there you can use the vista drivers but select them in the properties to run in compatibility with visa if they make issues..
About the programs ..it probably was a human error ..cause you do not payed attention on the selections made when you installed it ..You should specified to keep files and programs if possible ..and if you did and it made this ..it means it was no other way ..
Anyway ..there are alternatives for the programs in windows 7 ..and the drivers need to be installed manually ..
The other programs too ..just download them and install ..cause the usual ones like players and so ..are freeware ..
if you use HP ..like it is said here ...the link will get you to the support site ..

RESTORING A DELL COMPUTER OR LAPTOP BACK TO AS NEW CONDITION.

If you do not have a RECOVERY CD then contact Dell to purchase this Recovery CD for your model Dell computer or laptop.
Boot up using the Recovery CD and follow the instructions.

The other way is to re-install Windows using a Windows installation CD; it must match the Windows version on the Windows Product Code label on the bottom of your laptop or on the side or back of the desktop computer.

Boot up using the Windows installation CD and follow the instructions.
Next install all of the Dell's computer/laptop device drives.
Next install the Windows service packs (SP2 & SP3 for XP, SP1 & SP2 for Vista)
Next Activate Windows via the Internet or by phone.
Next install all your programs - Microsoft Office, anti-virus etc.
Next click on Start - Programs - Windows Update (for the latest updates).
Next copy your data back to the computer/laptop.

The device drivers for your model computer/laptop can be downloaded from the Dell WEB support site.

To download the drivers from Dell WEB site, select your model desktop or laptop, or a better option, type in the Service Tag number, this is printed on the label on the bottom of the laptop and on the back or sides of a desktop. (If the Service Tag label is missing then go the BIOS setting and on one of the BIOS pages, the Service Tag number will be displayed). The Service Tag will open the page where the drivers specific for your model computer/laptop are located. Also make sure you select the Windows XP or Vista version of the drivers for your Windows operating system. Click on this link to download the drivers: -

I want to downgrade ACER ASPIRE M5641 desktop form vista to XP. What steps to follow? Also I have only the backup CD which I made right after the purchase , originally installed with VISTA. Understand it...

You'll have to purchase the XP software, set your computer to boot from cd (in the cmos settings), put the disk in the cd and restart you computer. When the screen comes up to "...hit any key to boot from cd" hit any key. The system will boot to the XP cd and will allow you to delete the old partition, reformat your drive, and install XP. Next go to www.acer.com and download your drivers. Finally install your programs and data on to your hard drive. Have fun!

NOTE: Make absolutely sure that you backup the programs and data that you want to keep before starting the XP install!

Your system has a hidden partition with Vista and all your drivers on it, you need to decide wether to keep this partition in tact (incase you want to install Vista again) or to delete it and use the whole drives available space making it one partition instead of two.
ONLY delete the recovery partition if you have a copy of windows XP that you OWN. otherwise if you have problems again, you will have to find a disk again.
You will need a copy of windows xp, set the bios to boot to the cd/dvd rom in the BIOS and boot the system with the xp disk, do a full install first delete any partitions (unless you save the hidden partition, then just delete the large partion)
Repartition the empty space , then format the drive, which you will be prompted to do after partitioning, then the cd will install windows. follow the prompts.
Once finished , go here http://www.acerpanam.com/synapse/forms/portal20.cfm?website=AcerPanAm.com&siteid=7117&areaid=2&formid=3394#results
and download the 5 XP drivers for your system, install the chipset andcpu driver , then proceed to the NIC, audio and video.
You will then need to install any programs you had installed before. keep in mind a vista version of software may not operate correctly on XP. windows xp is about 130 dollars for the disk , but you can find copys on ebay for around 90.
poast again if you need more help
Regards..

I wanted to changed my laptop from windows vista home premium to windows xp professional. So xp installed fine then i had a set of drivers for xp which i had downloaded for Lenovo 3000 N200 AFU, SO i ran...

Whenever you are using the basic installation CD for windows XP, it seems like it does not have the driver for your hard drive on this CD. if you go to:

http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-67897.html

there is a walk through on how to do so and the driver to download. If this laptop does not have a USB floppy drive, you can also download all the drivers and use a program called Nlite that makes unattended installation's which you can copy the installation CD to your hard drive, put your windows key into the installation where you dont have to type it in, and put all drivers you need into the CD so that when it gets done installing you dont have any issues with no hard drive showing up, or have to install any drivers except for printers or scanners if you copied them all.

I have a Compaq C751NR Notebook that has Windows Vista and am trying to install the Windows Vista disk from the HP Officejet 6310 All-in-One. I keep getting "Fatal Error" error code 2349 and...

  1. Un-install the printer
  2. Click Start .
  3. Click Settings .
  4. Click Control Panel .
  5. Double-click Add/Remove Programs .
  6. Select HP PSC & Officejet 6.0 and then click Change/Remove .
  7. Follow the instructions that display on the screen.
  8. Disconnect the unit from the computer.
  9. Restart the computer.
Then download and install the drivers from HP's site:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?product=1119598&cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&product=1119598

The drivers on the cd are probably causing the problem.
You may have to copy and paste the link into your browser.
If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe

My logitech mouse died. It is a cordless add on for my lap top. Help!

Have you changed/charged the batteries?

Re-install the drivers and software (it comes in a CD).
Or look for your model on the Logitech website.
Click on Drivers. choose your model (usually on the receiver)
Download the drivers for your version of Windows (XP, Vista).
run the program.
