My vivitar vivicam 8025 camera doesn't have sound, but there is a microphone on it. if i upload it to the computer will it have sound?

The 8025 was designed primarily as a still camera, with some video capability. It records images, not sounds.

It has a speaker so it can beep but doesn't have a microphone. At least, mine doesn't. Where is yours?

Sound

From the manual:
"To hear audio, transfer the video to your computer."

The camera doesn't play the audio, though it records it. You need to transfer the video to a computer in order to hear it.

Transfer video to computer

I would like to know more about this USB adapter cable you bought. The camera has a IEEE-1394 (commonly refered to as Firewire or i-Link) connection that is inherently incompatible with USB. I don't see how one cable could do the trick unless it had some kind of conversion hardware built into it. Does it have a little box on the cable or is it just a straight cable?
CNet.com says that your laptop has a four pin Firewire port on it. I would go to BestBuy and tell them you need a Firewire cable with a four pin connector on both ends. If they give you a weird look tell them that is the small Firewire plug, not the big one. If they are still confused, get somebody else to help you. Then use that cable to plug your camera into your computer. Windows should recogonize it automatically. If it doesn't there may be a problem with you camera.

the iriver series by default is not detected as a usb drive. iriver music manager is needed to transfer files. After a firmware upgrade, the device is usable as a usb hard drive. But you need the music manager software to upgrade
