Question about Epson Artisan 800 All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

I have an Epson Artisan 800 Printer with a bad print head. This print head is beyond any more attempts at cleaning it and I would like to find out where I could find a replacement. I have found that this print head is very easy to replace. You take out three screws and you can lift the print head out of the carriage, then three more screws to remove the ink feed lines and then the electrical feed just pulls out of the plug. If I had another print head I could have it installed in the printer in about ten minutes but I can't find a replacement. Does anyone know where I could find a replacement print head at a reasonable cost?

On Epson Artisan 800 the scanner leaves wide black stripes for the whole length of the paper. Printing From a file is OK.

If computer printing is fine (source) but scanner printing has problems, then of course, your problem is in the scanner. The only solution based on your info (which is good), are the lines in the same areas on other bad scanning prints? If so, your problem means that the scan-head has a connection problem leaving a 'black' send to the print buffer. This will require some technical repair replace or clean connection. Remember that this is a mechanical movement that not only records what it 'sees'e but at what X-Y location the read was 'seen'. It would be worth it to get an estimate from your local computer repair center give you an estimate.

Epson artisan 810 prints vertical black lines on all documents

this problem is usually fixed easily. this commonly occurs when print head is clogged. I use a facial tissue and alcohol to clean the head with the ink cartridge in an upside down position (if possible) then i print one or two test prints to get it back to normal.

Epson Artisan 800 won't print with ink in the cartridges.

Have you run the head cleaner function under the maintenance section? You may have to run it several times. Then make sure that you print something that uses the colors every week.

My Epson Artisan 810 prints horizonal light blue lines on all printed materials. How to remove the blue lines?

To resolve this issue, you need to print a nozzle check pattern and then determine if print head cleanning is need.
To print nozzle check, follow the steps below.
  1. Turn off the Artisan Series and your computer, if connected.
  2. Disconnect any connected USB cables.
  3. Load plain paper in the main tray.
  4. Press the On button to turn the Artisan 800 Series on again.
  5. Press Setup.
  6. Select Maintenance.
  7. Select Nozzle Check.
  8. Press Start.
  9. The Artisan Series begins printing the nozzle check pattern.
  10. If there are no gaps, select Finish Nozzle Check.
If there are gaps, select Head Cleaning.
If the nozzle check pattern page prints correctly, the problem may be with your software settings, the interface cable, or your computer.

My Epson Artisan 800 prints only 1 inch of anything and then spits the paper out

Try the following to resolve this issue.

1. Check if same issue appears when using your Artisan 800 as a standalone copy machine.

2. Try printing from a different application to isolate the issue further. You can also print a windows test page to check if this issue is caused by the application that you are printing from or by the printer driver.

3. Reinstall Printer Driver.

I have an Epson Artisan 810 printer. All of a sudden, the printer will not print the black color. I just changed that cartridge and that didn't help either. Thanks!

Hi you should clean the print head and you need to take out the cartridge and pay close attention as you put it back into the printer because it may not be fitted in place properly.

Ink pads have outlived there life time ????? artisan 800 put in new ink and unit won't print

The waste ink pads absorb waste ink during the cleaning cycle and edge-to-edge printed pages. The pads are at the bottom of the printer under the head. If you take apart the printer, you can blot the excess ink out and then run the pads under water until they are clean. Dry well and reassemble the printer. Then you need to reset the counter. Epson offers a reset utility for some of there printers that executes under Windows OS only (available after you enter your e-mail and the printer's serial number) The URL: http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/support/InkPadsForm.jsp?cookies=no&com.broadvision.session.new=Yes
Using the reset before cleaning or replacing the pads (can be ordered from Epson Service) will lead to ink getting everywhere.

Please note that the reset point on the counter is expected to be reached under normal usage when the printer is close to the end of life. Additional failures may occur in the future.

I hope this helps.

Cindy Wells
(Start the disassembly at the top of the printer, move the printhead out of the way (sometimes it is held by screws) and fish for the pads. Have lots of newspaper or other material to keep the ink from getting all over your workspace.)

Epson Artisan 800 continually indicating paper jam error--No jam.

Yes, that fixed the problem on my Artisan 800! Thanks so much for the info about slipping the cr scale back onto the u-guide on the back of the print head carriage, Larry P and dabaker!

For those trying this, the u clip is upside down so, from the front of the printer, you move the CR scale ribbon down a little and in towards you gently, in from the back towards the lower part of the rear of the print head assembly, and it will slip in on the top part of the ribbon into the u shaped groove (which, to be technical, looks more like an n-shaped groove, an upside down u). If it is loose and not clipped in, the CR scale ribbon will bow out easily on both sides of the print head carraige when lightly pressed towards the back of the printer near either side of the print head. (As pointed out in the service manual, do not touch the ribbon with your fingers, particularly if they may be greasy/greasty/gritty; use a clean tool for this-I used a q-tip which worked well for both testing the tension and for pushing it down and back into the proper guide slot.) If the CR scale ribbon is clipped in properly to the print head (properly seated in the n-shaped slot), it will bow towards the back of printer easily ONLY on the side that your press it from (ie left or right) but not on the opposite side of the carriage; the opposite side will remain almost entirely flush to the rear of the print assembly. Remember to press gently; you do not want to stretch or damage this scale ribbon if you can help it. If you have a small dental mirror and good light, you will be able to see the n-shapped clip (it's plastic and black on my 800 clearly. If the ribbon is correctly seated, it will be in the slot at the top and free at the bottom. Because of the use of u-slot in the previous posts, I was confused as to where to fit this in but then figured, nothing to lose and yep, it's actually the n-shaped slot at the top.
