SOURCE: usb extention lead doesn't work with webcam

So you know the cam is ok and the cable, so you will have to point to the usb port not being able to push enough power through the cable to the camera as it must take a higher voltage than the other cam. Make sure that the other cam software is uninstalled and you have done registry clean in case of conflicts and also try using a different usb port but install the camera with the driver again using the extension in it, aplogies if you did, i am assuming you may have installed the camera directly without the extension cable.

SOURCE: usb 2.0

Hi,
this is a common error with operating systems and devices.
If you go into my Computer/system/device manager. And remove the installed USB devices. shutdown the computer, and reboot it. then try putting your USB device in.
What general happens, is that if you have had an older device in the USB port at any time, the port configures itself to this setting. options are to try another port on the computer ( some older ports only support usb1.1 )
ensure you have up to date drivers on the connecting device and on the connecting computer.
Hope this helps Mike @ Compurepair.

Try opening up the device manager and unistall everything in the Universal Serial Bus Controllers. Then reboot and let windows reinstall the USB controllers. Windows should now be able to recognize properly USB2 devices.

SOURCE: "A HI SPEED USB device plugged into a non HI SPEED USB hub" error message, any idea?

Hello BILLBOBAGGIN,

Depending on the hardware, your computer and devices may support three different USB data rates:

Low Speed - 1.5 Mbit/s
Full Speed - 12 Mbit/s
Hi-Speed - 480 Mbit/s

It sounds like the USB hub you are using is either a Low or Full Speed hub. The Hi-Speed devices you are plugging in will still work, but the transfer rate of the data will be slower then what the device supports. The error message is just to inform you that you could be getting higher data transfer speeds if your USB hub supported it.

For faster performance I would recommend upgrading to a Hi-Speed USB hub,

Best Regards,
Ken

Hi I just got Microsoft LifeCam VX-700 today. I've plugged it in and I want to use it on MSN. But when I've pressed Video Call my friend can hear me but cant see me. It says that it isn't connected....?

Sometimes the problem is internet connection low, try to refresh the router by turning it off and on.

Otherway, your operating system is not updated like for windows xp service pack 2. sometimes webcam not working, try to download installer for service pack 3 and install the update.

MY WEBCAM INTEX IT-305 WEB CAM IS NOT RECOGNIZED ON MY USB PORT EVEN AFTER INSTALLING THE DRIVER. ERROR ON CONNECTING IT TO USB PORT IS WINDOWS CANNOT RECOGNIZE THE DEVICE CONNECTED TO THE USB .

It sounds like you have a USB port(s) problem. Did you check them in Device Manager to see if they work ok? Did you try a different usb cable? You surely need Windows Service Packs installed in order to get USB 2.0 compatibility and speed. Without the service packs you will only get USB 1.1 compatibility and speed. But of course, the USB controller must be a USB 2.0 Controller before it can attain USB 2.0 compatibility and speed. There is no software that will make a USB 1.1 controller a USB 2.0 Controller. If your current USB controller is only 1.1 compatible, you will need to obtain a high speed USB 2.0 controller card or bus card. The easy way to tell if the current installed usb controller is 2.0 is to open Device Manager and click the + button next to USB Controllers. If you see the word "enhanced" anywhere beneath, then the controller is a USB 2.0 controller.
