Bosch SHU43 / Siemens Dishwasher door not locking

My door latch doesnt stay locked. After I take the lock off to reset it, it only takes about 5 - 7 times for the latch to go bad. I took off the screws, the power contact switch, and then the lock to push in the spring and rotate the nylon clip to its proper position. All seems ok, but I suspect maybe the screws on either side of the latch is not tight enough, or maybe the frame of the door is not aligned. When the latch is reset, all operations are normal, and there's no leaks. If its the screws, what can I do about it?

STEP BY STEP IN DETAIL: After you take off the top 8 screws of the inside cover, you pull up a little and the control section of the door comes up and off. Next remove the wired contact switch that is attached to the latch by pushing in the little contact button (its on the bottom - use a small screwdriver to gently pry out the body of the contact switch after pushing in the button). Now the latch can be taken out by using a thin long screwdriver or needle nose pliers to untwist the 2 tabs that are part of the inner control panel frame and are twisted against the latch. You should be able to wiggle upwards and out the plastic latch body by itself. Holding the latch in your hand, push in the plastic covering a spring that is on the hidden side to rotate the lock catch thereby resetting the lock.
To answer my own question, I lately tried twisting the tabs as tightly as I can against the latch body when installing. So far it seems to be working ok.

I gave up trying to screw with this- replaced lock latch part (available online); that solved the problem.

I replaced the top cover, that required removing the door screws to get access to the front of the door to remove the 4 top cover retaining screws. After replacing all this, the door latch was in teh locked position not allowing the door to close. How do you physically re-set the lock, I tried to push it with no luck!

Bosch dishwasher model SHY56A05UC/14 door wont latch. It will run but of course water comes out as it is not locked.

That sounds more like a gasket problem then a lock problem. Check the rubber seal on the door for damage. Even a small imperfection in the seal can cause the door to leak even though the lock is engaged.

Or is it that the door just won't close at all? If that's the case, check the locking mechanism to see if there's anything jammed in there. If so, remove it and that may fix the problem.

Bosch dishwasher won't latch

No you did good in ordering a latch ,that is a common issue i find with the bosch d/w, for no apparent reason the latch locks itself with the door open. Look at the door where the male part of the latch goes into the door, you will see that is locked. if you take it apart and manually unlock the latch u stand to break it. Again you did good on ordering the latch.

Can't close Bosch Dishwasher door

I had same problem and was alarmed at the idea of taking the door apart, so I tried the 2 screwdriver option described below - it works!

Open door and get two small screwdirvers behind each side of the catch inside the top of the door and gently apply pressure. The catch should reset itself on 'open' and allow you to shut the door again.

Thanks to all for their postings and helpful advice!
