I have this problem with my GE top load machine which was new eight years ago. No problem until just recently when the machine was loaded with a load too large for it to handle. The problem has just recently started, and does not do it all the time, but I did have an idea that it was the bearing. The greasy oil is dark and leaves spots that do not come out, but---I found an odd solution. I rubbed good old Crisco on a lovely piece of clothing and then soaked it in hot water in the kitchen sink. Rubbed somemore. Then I used a bar of hand soap (used Dial soap). Not liquid detergent. And then I. scrubbed the spots with the soap. Washed it out in the sink again-- and lo and behold the spots were gone. I had tried--vinegar, rubbing alcohol, bleach, baking soda and other solutions. to no avail. But baking grease and good old soap did the trick.

If you are getting round dark spots on your clothes after washing, the problem would be cause by a bearing seal leak. What happens is water leaks pass the seal into the bearings, and the grease leaks back into the wash water. To fix it would require the machine to be literally taken completely apart to get to the bearings. Very costly to repair. Sorry.

My washer leaves oil spots on my clothes

The only place where oil can enter the wash would be if the bearing seals have failed. It's a major repair, and the entire machine has to be taken apart to replace the bearing and seal.

Grease Spots

This is from not enough HOT loads.

Fatty deposits gather between the basket and tub during COLD washes.

Then they are being released in large numbers when you do your whites on HOT.

It is recommended to do 1 HOT load per week.

Do an empty load with some degreaser added (like Goo-Gone) on the fullest/hottest setting you have.
