Toshiba A100 Power problems

Hi there,

I am wondering if someone could point me in the right direction with regard to fixing my computer!

I am having power issues with my toshiba A100 laptop computer which i purchased in europe 2 years ago. When the battery is run down completely the computer will not run / start at all when plugged into the wall. It shows a light saying that the battery is charging yet the DC in light does not show. The laptop needs to charge for at least 1-2 hours before i can turn it on. Pushing the power button for the computer also turns on / off the charge light sometimes. I cannot use the computer at all until the battery light shows fully charged even though it is plugged into the wall. The power outlet is fine.

I also have some other issues. Firstly the computer often does not like to rename folders - says they are in use but they are not. Secondly i am having issues with toshiba recordnow cd / dvd burning program. i can open the program up but when i close it it will not open until i log off and log back on. Thirdly my computer no longer likes my sony digital camera memory cards if put directlt into the laptop - it says that they may be harmful and will not access them.

Thanks for reading!

Hi my namae is chenoa and my computer has crashed and i was wondering how to set it back to factory state and i dont know what to do if you guys can send me a toshiba recovery disk i am not at home right...

Hi
You should of made a restore disk when you first got it. It may have a restore partition hidden on the hard drive. Power it up and keep pressing F11 key. If this does not start the restore process please check you user manual. If you want restore CD/DVD's you can buy them from Toshiba Or go here http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/index.jspa and ask on the forum if anyone has some you can have
We cannot give out numbers or support you outside of the FixYa site, apologies.

Toshiba Satellite Pro A100 Screen goes black

Ensure first that is not a system problem, see if you still have power when screen goes off, check display settings, and eventually reinstall the system.
If it does not fix it then it may be an hardware fault.

Switch no longer does anything -- can't turn it on.

Hello,

Regarding on your problem, you can repaired the switch of your laptop but you need to have a complete tools in fixing the switch and also you have the basic knowledge of computer basic parts in order for you to avoid any possible damage it can done when you try to disassemble your laptop to enable you to open and see the switch. But The best and simple solution i can recommend is that either you find a computer technician in your place of course with the right tools let that person repair and fix for you or you can find a computer repair shop in your place and let them fix your laptop.

Thanks

Won't power on

Hey,

You can attempt to remove the ram from the computer, start with no ram, reattach one ram and try starting up again.

you may have a hardware problem that might require repairs. I suggest you contact toshiba service for repairs.

there are not many things that you can attempt at home. replaceing of parts is one.
Let me know if you need anything else.

Thanks,
Ekse

Sounds like you have a problem with your power adapter, battery and or charge port ... I would suggest you let the unit "charge" overnight and try again.

No power going into the laptop

Hi

A fault I frequently come across is the power socket either breaking up, breaking out of the motherboard or more often now just an array of dry joints causing all sorts of odd problems. Build quality of laptops is rubbish these days - they have to cut costs to save money because of the lower overall price of laptops

I have a Toshiba Satellite M115. I'm trying to do a sys. restore

Hi Imotivate!

By far the easiest, and most probably the best option for the long run is to ask Toshiba for a replacement recovery cd. It will most likely cost you, but it's worth a shot. Finding an authorised Toshiba dealer can be found by using their helpful website tool found here : http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/gaspLocator.jsp?pf=true.

Hopefully this will point you in the right direction to get a replacement sent out to you!
