I have a SA-GX550 also and once the receiver has been on for about 10-15 minutes the overload light comes on and shut downs my system. I just came back from Best Buy and the person there suggested it might be a fuse but we checked it and it was fine. We then disconnected the entire system and just plugged in the receiver and within 5 minutes the overload button came on.

Can this be a manufacturing problem? I sure would love some advice as I really don't want to buy another receiver. I have had this for over 10 years but have not turned it on in at least 5 years

    Thanks

    Nancy

Im having the same problem with mine. The problem seems to have started after I placed a vcr on top of the unit. I am thinking that It may be getting too hot. But don't really know.

I own an SA-GX550 also, and I have the same problem with the "overload" light. What I normally do it switch it on and off 5 or 6 times quickly (this is probably ******* it, but it's the only solution I know of) and that seems to over-ride the overload protection at least until I turn it back off the next time. Hope that helps...

You probably have a Technics amplifier. If you check some of the answers in that category, one of the fixya experts may have responded to that earlier.

No tv sound through reciever's speakers. How do I hook up?

TV is not customarily a sound source. It is a video destination. Get your TV-related audio to the receiver from the same places the TV gets it - each source device's audio outputs.

My Technics AV Control Receiver SA AX530 is in overload

An amplifier should never be turn on without speakers, it will overload internally.
make sure speakers work and try again.

you cant remove the overload light. it does that as a safty so you dont burn up the amp when its not being used properly. do u have a capacitor? are the speakers ohms and watts the same as the amp?

Overload protection

Doe this always go into overload independent of the volume level? Try disconnecting the speakers completely and running the set. Does the set shutdown then too?

Thanks,

Technics SA DA20

I have a Technics SA DA20 control receiver. I was given it by an electronics workshop and it has this same error of OVERLOAD coming into the display when switched on. I removed the plates from underneath and re-soldered as far as I could all the points along the stereo amplifier ICs and as far as access would allow. The unit then worked normally for several hours. I was very pleased, and went out shopping!. But on my return after it had been off for about an hour, the same problem has come back. But my boss at the electornics workshop thinks it it just a dry joint, or series of dry joints. The unit is complex to dismantle, so patience and care is required in taking it apart and making a note or diagram of how it comes to pieces and how to re-assemble it after the board has been re-soldered. It does not appear to be a component problem or fault with the SVI power amplifier ICs.
