Could you please let me know how did you format it? from the Mobile or from your computer? There are several reasons with this, if are trying to format it from the computer via the USB connection, then you must first disable the ringtones or wallpaper or other programs like screensaver, otherwise you'll not be able to do so. You can also format it from the Mobile and it's easier if there's no virus or spyware problem.

The best thing is using a Card Reader to open the Memory card on your computer and to access it. You'll be able to easily format the memory from the memory card using a Card Reader.

If you need further help, let me know.

Good luck.

Thanks for using FixYa.

N96 massmemory corrupted

Hi, when a phone mass memory is corrupted, it means that memory has been affected by VIRUS.

VIRUS can damage a phone in no time. VIRUS can be caused by downloading applications on your phone through the internet, or might be from data transfer from a phone to another phone.

To remove the VIRUS, you will need to flash the phone memory. Flashing the phone will restore back the phone to it normal state.

You can use this link to see how to flash your phone

Flashing a cell phone will erase carrier data from the memory. Cellular companies can usually do this for a fee. Online buyer sites sell the software kit that will flash a cell phone from home computers.

To flash a phone you will need to rewrite the PRL file by connecting your phone to a computer with the needed equipment. Your best bet is to take your phone to a dealer that flashes phones on a regular basis. For more information

Take care.
