Hoover 3525D clothes dryer

I have a Hoover clothes dryer model 3525D, the barrel will not turn unless I help it along, this suggests that the belt may be loose. Is there a tensioning arm or similar, or is it the motor may be faulty as in not enough power to drive it?

Regards,

Stuart

I am licenced to repair white goods and have one of these in the workshop. The capacitor has blown out and the size of the capacitor is unreadable. Can some one tell me the uf rating.
    Thanks

Same problem, drum will not turn unless i help it. I've had the back off the machine and can hear it trying to start but needs assistance. Any ideas as to what it could be? Will it be easy to fix?

Mine has the same problem - it's not the belt as it's always pre-tensioned with a sping. I started it with the back cover off and he motor just hums until I give the drum a light turn...

I am trying to source a new capacitor...

    Capacitor details are:

6uF 400V -25+85degrees. There is no indication of the capacitor type (electrolytic, bi-polar etc) but there is a heap of other numbers on it and it's made in Spain...

The most likely cause is a faulty start capacitor. I obtained a new one for $22.00AUD from a local spares shop. You have to remove the back and then the motor mounting plate to get access to it as it is behind the mtr when viewded from the rear I had to remove the long wires from the connector block to attach the replacement directly. You will also need a cable tie to attach it.
Be carefull and make sure the dyer is unplugged as lethal voltages are present.
Good luck

Yes - a belt will cost you around $10. Most likely it is slipping. There is a tensioning arm. Just ebay belt for 3525D. I replaced mine last weekend.

My dryer gets hot but doest dry my clothes i lifted the top and spun the barrell around and noticed that the seal is torn could that be the cause

Sounds like a belt problem with no clothes in the dryer turn the dryer on for a minute or so open the door if the drum is spinning it not belt if drum is not spinning it's more that likely the belt that turns the drum.also need to check the exhaust hose in back of dryer it could have a blockage check lint screen also.Hope this helps.

Hoover clothes dryer 3.5 kg 3525D stop working

If it does not even start then it is power supply.
If it stopped running at all then it is probably the motor.
If it runs but not dries is the heating element to be replaced.

I have a hoover dryer model 3530d. I have to open it and try to turn the drum over and over before it will start to turn. What is the problem. Is it worth fixing or should i just buy a new one

the belt maybe stretched or the motor, you will need to open dryer and look at the motor and belt, idler arm, drum roller and glides, this website should assist you, Tim:

We have a Hoover Elecron Dryer De Luxe D6292 and the drum will not turn. There is a loud clang and the belt is no longer on the pulley arms. We have tried replacing the belt, but each time the drum rotates...

here is a picture of some belt diagrams:

Now there may be a problem with the drum rollers/glides or idler arm:

rollers/glides:

Fisher and paykel clothes dryer wont turn with clothes in it.

Hi
Most dryers work with a belt around the drum. Either the belt is stretched and needs replacement or there may be a belt tensioner which needs adjustment to tighten the belt.
What is happening in your case is that the belt is slipping on the drum as it is too loose.
Best wishes,
