Yes, but I would not recommend it as you would be soldering wires to your motherboard and run the risk of frying it in the process.
Not to mention you need to desolder the other ports first.

LG laptop usb ports not working

do you have the program needed to get what you have on your flash drive? If you don't have a photo program or pdf program or what ever to open it, it won't work. try connecting something else that uses USB port to it and see if that works, then you will know if its a program problem or your computer. if its the computer, you can replace it.

I PLUGGED MY MP3 PLAYER INTO MY LAPTOP USB PORT AND IT USED TO WORK NOW IT SAID THE USB DEVICE HAS EXCEEDED ITS POWER LIMITS OF ITS HUB PORT AND WONT WORK NOW

If you get an error message"Insufficient power to operate USB device" when you plug a USB deviceinto the computer's USB port, then this device is drawing excessive currentthat the USB port cannot supply. The maximum output from an USB port is 500mA. In case such as this, youneed to purchased a powered USB hub and connect this hub into the computer'sUSB port and then connect the USB device into this powered USB hub.

DEll 1720 vostro laptop running xp sp3 has recurrent and progressively worse "a network cable is unplugged" problems on LAN

This is mostly likely either
a) faulty cable
b) faulty network point
c) excessive 'wear' on the laptop's network port

Check a & b as these are the easiest options to fix. If its c) then you can try (carefully) cleaning port contacts with a suitable 100% pure isopropyl alcohol (turn laptop off first). Failing that, then if the laptop is in warranty then I would contact the warranty provider (presumably dell) otherwise the easiest /cheapest option would be to purchase a USB RJ45 network port which you can by in most good computer/electronic shops

Please take the time to rate this answer. Many Thanks Don.

Is there a USB switch like a KVM switch? Where do I go for the best price on such an item?

All you need is a USB hub, I suggest you get a powered type because if any USB device you connect into this USB hub that draws excess power from the laptop, you will get an error power message. A powered USB hub does not rely on power from the laptop's USB port.
These USB hubs allow you to connect several USB devices at once. Most USB hubs have 4 USB ports.

Connection to laptop

Most printers are connected to laptops via the USB ports. If the printer is supposed to be wireless, then you may have to connect the laptop via the USB port so you can activate the wireless port.

Power Surge on Hub Port

Some USB devices draw excessive power from the USB port, especially USB scanners. When this happens you need a powered USB hub, connect this to your computer's USB port and connect the USB device into the powered USB hub, you should not have any further error power surge problems.
