Question about Canon imageCLASS® MF6550 Laser Printer
I got photo copier canon model mf 6550 there are some thing wrong the copy or print came out empty , there are no signal any thing wrong , I changed toner branch new and check everything in side looked very clean
Please help me to know this problem !! Huot Fuijita
We had the same problem with our mf6550 printing blank pages after we changed the toner cartridge. I called the support desk today and they said it is the shutter. They told me to remove the toner cartridge and then (without a cartridge in) close the door briskly. Then open the door, install the cartridge and again close the door briskly. It worked! He said it may be a permanent fix or it may act up again. He also said I could take it to a service center to have it fixed permanently. The service desk # is 1-800-828-4040. They can tell you where the nearest service center is. Good luck.

I had the same problem. I tried the shutter trick but that did not work so I called Cannon. your copier is under warranty for 3 years. mine is 2 years old. so it was a free fix. the shutter is the problem but it is not the one that is next to toner. it is actually above the paper tray. you need to take 3 sides off to get to it. The reason i was told this happens is because when we change the toner we tend to shut the side compartment too hard. If you call cannon or find a local repair center they will install a newer version of the shutter that will not fail. They had mine fixed by 10:30 am that day. I was in the same boat as all of you. and also bought another cartridge that was $170.00 but I have a spare now :) Hope this helps

We also have this problem with the 1/2"x3" shutter not working. I saw the suggestion about removing it, so I simply held it open and put a piece of tape in there the keep it open. It works for now. My question is, what are the consequences of a laser aperture shutter that never closes?

The best solution is to remove the shutter completely, it will only stick again.

Same problem, simply lift the shutter door with a long, flat tool, then place a small bit of tape on the left corner of the shutter to keep it open. Works great after this fix. Probably best to unplug the printer before inserting long metal tools into it!

There is a 1/2" X 3" metal shutter that you can see when you remove the toner cartridge. On my machine, this door was kind of stuck half way open. I simply got a screwdriver and opened the shutter. The shutter popped open and then fell all the way closed. It now moves freely and I found out that this is the laser aperature. Once you get the shutter operating smothly, your machine will copy again!! Hope this helps.
