You can put a 160gb on it as is with no trouble, but should add ram to at least 1 gig to make better use of your system. Hope this helps:)

Will Mercury 810e motherboard support 1.0 GB (512 MBX2) SD RAM?

I cannot directly answer that question because you did not supply the motherboard model number. You will have to look this up yourself, here is the url for Mercury support
http://www.mercury-pc.com/downloads.php
The model number is usually printed on the motherboard, find it and you can download the manual, specs and drivers.

After Connecting 80GB/160 GB HDD machine faild to start

Put the new drive in as a "Slave" format it into NFTS
or whatever you are using

Have a copy of your Operating System disk at hand including serial numbers

Also a copy of the Motherboard disk as this will have all of the drivers on it that the new install will need.

Disconnect your 20GB drive

Change the jumper on the back of the 80GB one to say Master then install the OS.

When that is done install the motherboard disk to sort out your drivers etc

If your 20GB is working why not just leave it in and use the 80GB as a storage area that way you do not have to do a re-install

Upgrading my 128 RAM of KOB 810e FST MB

Looking at the manual for this motherboard your maximum ram is 512mb in two sticks of 256mb each. Speed rating is pc133 (maximum). You may struggle with the external hard drive as you only seem to have usb 1.1 and not usb 2.0
