Question about Gaggenau EB388 Electric Single Oven

Open Question

I have a gaggenau eb 338 electric oven. When pressing the start (s) button to see the current oven temperature, it is reading at 977F! the interior light is no longer lighting when turning the oven on. All the functions work on the control panel, eg. setting the temp and specifying which element to heat, but no heat. The fan doesnt work when selecting any of the fan assisted heating functions, but the fan does work when auto clean is selected. ive tried reseting the oven with auto clean, as i thought the thermastat may be stuck in cycle as it heats up to around this temp (905F) during auto clean, but with no luck. The door then became locked as a safety measure as stated in the manual, so we turned off the oven to reset it over night, and can now open the door again, but still stuck with the same problem. Im thinking thermastat problem. Any ideas thanks.

SOURCE: Gaggenau oven won't heat on convection setting

this could be due to more than one cause selector switch faulty elements faulty. however this would mean both elements gone - there is one at the top and one at the bottom also worth while looking at the wiring to the convection elements. does the thermostat neon come on when convection is selected?

SOURCE: bottom oven not working

If its brand new, most possibly the electrician did not bridge the mains connection. It sounds like an installation fault. There is usually a jumper between 1-2-3 on the L connection on the mains, and a jumper between 4-5 on the N connection. Oshie

I am a gaggenau engineer this is usually a fault with the door lock mechanism it can be manually reset eg remove oven and side panel pull back locking arm there is a also a built in test prog in oven clock that will switch door lock back to reset position but these will need to be done by an engineer as oven very heavy.

SOURCE: Door locked after power surge/failure

The question here is how long did you leave the breaker off? Gaggenau ovens have a memory and I always advise turn the oven off for 5 mins before turning the breaker back on. Give that a try. The first thing the oven does when the power is reapplied is go thru a test phase which included locking and unlocking the door. The key symbol will go on and off during this. Sometimes you have to also can run a self clean then cancel it to reset the lock. This works as well.
