Question about Lands Phones

1 Answer

Have misplaced the user manual and want to connect a new handset to the old base. How is this done? It is a Telstra F8000 cordless DECT phone.

Thanks for your help. I hopefully have another of the same type of handsets coming, so I can try that suggested method, but I also have some different DECT handsets which I was told should/may work with my original base which is supposed to be expandable for up to 5 or 6 handsets. Some of these must go through a button pushing exercise within 90 seconds of initiating the secquence to have them register with their own original bases, so I expect something like this may be required for them to "speak" to my base. I just don't have any reference material for/from my original base to help me. Cheers, Gary

As long as the base is the same as what is made for the phone it would be as simple as putting the handset into the charging cradle of the BASE for a few seconds. you should see the charging like flicker for a second. after that it should work fine.

No reception

Sounds like the radio in your base phone has quit working. Yes, you can buy another base but it has to be the same model s your existing one. After you get the new base follow the instruction in your users manual to unregister the old handset and then reregister them to the new base. Link to users manual

I have a Uniden cordless phone #D2CT 6.0--I love the phone but the party on the other end of the line can barely hear me -how can I fix this or this a bad phone???

At 20 ft line of sight, you should have perfect reception with most any cordless phone.

The fuzzy signal can indicate:
1.
A weak signal between base and handset.
20 ft line of sight should have a good strong signal.
Your handset may be defective.
Or, your handset battery may be weak.
Your base unit may be defective.

2.
You may be experiencing RFI Interference.
Is the base unit next to any other electronic devices?
If it is next to a wireless router or some other wireless device, it may be overloaded by the nearby signal (even if on a different frequency)

I've got a 5 year old Panasonic 5.8 Ghz cordless phone connected to my VoIP box. I just tested it from about 25 ft away from the base unit in another room with a wall in between and my reception is perfect.

I did the same test with my Panasonic DECT 6.0 phones (1.9 GHz). The first handset is slightly fuzzy, but otherwise good signal. The 2nd handset was perfectly quiet with good strong signal. So, there is a difference between two identical handsets connected to the same base unit. This indicates to me that one handset is better tuned than the other. Nothing I can do about that but get a new 2nd extension cordless handset. Sometimes, it's just luck of the draw

Please register on the screen

When you see this 'register' message, it means that that particular DECT handset must be registred to the selected 'Base' station: please consult your User manual/guide for the steps by steps instruction on how to register a new handset to your base station for the specific compatible model(s).

Hope it helps.

My cordless phone says "to register see owners manual for help" How do I get the phone working, it is a uniden DECT 6.0 Model DECT 1588-2

With the phone in standby, press MENU/SELECT on the base.
Move the cursor to select the Register Handset menu, and then press MENU/SELECT. Handset Registering will appear.
On the handset, press and hold # until the handset beeps and displays Handset Registering.
When the handset has registered to the base, the LCD will display Registration Complete then show the handset ID number.
If the display shows Registration failed, repeat the process again.
Note: If a handset has ever been registered to a base, reset the handset before you register it to a new base

To register a new handset:
  1. Press and hold the HANDSET LOCATOR on the base unit until you hear Registration tone (repeated 'beeps')
  2. On the handset, press the PROG then the UP or DOWN button to display "REGISTER"
  3. Press the PHONE/OK
-> The display shows "BS 1234". If any of these numbers is steady (not flashing), then the handset is already registered to that base unit.
  4. Press 1 to select base unit number 1
    -> The display shows "BASE PIN _ _ _ _"
  5. Key in the system PIN (default 0000) and press the PHONE/OK
-> The display shows "WAIT _ _ _ _" for a few moments, while the handset searches for a base. Then it shows a list of handset numbers which are still free on the base unit.
(For example, "1 34 6" indicates that numbers 1, 3, 4 and 6 are free; 2 and 5 are already assigned to other handsets.)
  6. Key in a free handset number
-> After a moment, the display should show the handset's name and number.
If registration fails...
  • Try again, making sure you begin step 2 as soon ans Registration tone starts.

For the handset, you can use the menu button to check the HS Setup settings. For the answering machine, you may have pressed the side button that turns it off. It would say "off" on the lcd if you did that. According to the manual (I just bought one of these).
