Which PNY PC2-5300 ram memory? How about a product number, or a URL to the website? You have two ram memory slots. EACH slot has a Maximum Amount of 1GB. Total Amount for your computer is 2GB. Your computer came with PC2-4200 ram memory. DDR2 Sdram at 533MegaHertz. If you are installing a 1GB stick of PC2-5300, (DDR2 at 667MHz), and using a 1GB stick of PC2-4200, put the 1GB stick of PC2-5300 in Slot 1. Slot 1 is the ram memory slot the computer 'sees' first. (BIOS actually) When you install two sticks of different 'speeds', the computer will operate the ram memory at the 'speed' of the slower ram memory. ('Speed' is actually Frequency Rate. Example: PC2-5300 can operate up to a frequency rate of 667 Million Cycles per Second. Mega = approximately 1 Million. Hertz stands for Cycles per Second. 667MHz )

DDR2 PC2-5300 with a maximum of 1GB per slot
so ...in theory will work if the pny is not bigger than 1G per slot..the rest will fit ..cause the slots are on DDR@ and the frequency is supported up to 5300
if the unit is of 2G ..probably you will have to upgrade the bios ..but I would not advice you to do it ..
there is a possibility to work with a 2 G but will only read 1g per slot..

SOURCE: will pc2-5300 memory work in

The eMachines T5082 Desktop PC uses an Intel D102GGC2 motherboard.

This is Intel Support, and the download page for the motherboard manual,

http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/d102ggc2/sb/CS-022441.htm?wapkw=%28D102GGC2%29

Click on the file name in blue -
Intel Desktop Board D102GGC2 Product Guide - English (PDF)

This is a PDF file.
(The computer you are using now has Adobe Reader on it, which uses PDF files. The file will open automatically)

It may take up to 30 seconds before you see the first page come up.
It may also take additional time to fully download the file.
Watch the Download Progress bar.

The page number box is at the top of the PDF file, and to the left of the blue Down Arrow.
Go to Page 9.

The Intel D102GGC2 motherboard supports ram memory that is DDR2 Sdram at either 400MegaHertz, or 533MHz.
This is PC2-3200 and PC2-4200 respectively.

(PC2-4200 can also be referred to as PC2-4300. It's up to the individual ram memory maker)

PC2-5300 is DDR2 Sdram that operates (At maximum) at 667MegaHertz.

IMHO it won't work.

Supporting Data:

A) The Intel D102GGC2 motherboard uses an ATI Radeon XPress 200 motherboard chipset.

ATI Radeon XPress 200 chipset specs,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_ATI_Chipsets#Comparison_of_Northbridges_2

Scroll down the left column until you come to -
RS400 / RS415

Granted although the ATI chipset will support Processors with a Front Side Bus of 1066MHz, the Processor in your computer has an FSB of 800MHz.

It is an Intel Pentium 4 HT model 631.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Intel_Pentium_4_microprocessors#Cedar_Mill_.2865_nm.29

Ram Memory typically operates at half of the FSB of the Processor.
Half of 800MHz is 400MHz.

PC2-3200 DDR2 Sdram ram memory.
The ATI chipset will support PC2-4200.
DDR2 Sdram at 533MHz.

That's my argument as to why I don't think it will work.

In the end however, it isn't how fast the ram memory is,
it is how MUCH ram memory.

MORE amount of ram memory is better than being concerned about the frequency rate

You're probably missing a driver for it. Download it off the website for which ever mouse you're using and see if that works. If not try to see if your USB ports will read anything else. Like a flashdrive or get a USB keyboard and test them, assuming you're using a USB mouse.

I have a emachine t5082. I am trying to install new graphics card. How do i set the primary display to pci

Go into the BIOS, it will be in there...I don't remember where off hand, it won't be hard to find though.

Shut down your computer and wait for it to power down. Press the power button and look for a message that says "Press X to enter Setup." In most eMachines, this will be either the "F1" or "F2" key.

eMachines recommends DDR2 at 533MHz.
(PC2-4200)

A lot of ram memory manufacturers, state you can use DDR2 at 667MHz. (PC2-5300)

This is a logical statement due to the fact that a lot of motherboard chipsets, (Northbridge chip specifically),
will allow ONE step up in ram memory frequency rate.

You are going Two steps up.
Who told you this would work?
This is erroneous.
(Mean that in a nice sort of way)

PC 6400 is DDR2 at 800MHz.

Your eMachines T5082 motherboard uses an ATI Radeon Xpress 200 motherboard chipset.

This chipset will only support DDR2 at 667MHz at best.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xpress_200

Suggest you send that ram back, and get PC2-5300.

This is the link to the manufacturer's website and the Vista drivers for that model.

http://www.emachines.com/support/product_support.html?cat=Desktops&subcat=T-Series&model=T5082

The network is a Realtek 8139, which Vista should automatically install, but using the manufacturer's recommended drivers might be the best thing.

The T-5082 does have a few expansion slots for a new modem or network card.
