Question about Audio Players & Recorders

Where can I order a Teac CD drive belt?

My drive belt has stretched, so the laser head won't come up.

1) Where can I order one?

2) Any suggestions on getting it off the gear drive? It is completely surrounded by gear framework. (The motor pully is easily accessible)

On my CDP-CX300 It will not play comes up with "Disc loading error" on the display, turntable and loading mechanism seems labored suspect power problem ? any suggestions ?

1. Chances are real good that the laser lens has gone out or is too weak to read the disk. It's a maticelous procedure to calibrate a laser lens. It may just need to be replaced.
2. The labored mechanism is due to the belt in the disk drive being dirty or stretched out. With this the mechanism can't inject far enough for the laser assembly to come up properly far enough for a good laser alignment therefore giving you the disk read error. You can clean these drive belts with alchohol and put them back in. While it's out check the belt for cracks. If there are any replace it. Or if it seems stretched out, which you can tell when it's around the pulleys, replace it. This belt is located in the front and under side of the disk drive assembly.
I've had the same problem with Xbox360 drives and the above solutions worked out quite well. But I haven't worked on one of these devices yet.
3. As a last thought. There may be a swollen capacitor on one of the circuit boards that may be causing the problem. A cap swells and shorts out. If so it will need to be replaced. I've had single swollen caps keep an entire television from working.

My teac cd player doesnt spin the cd

The problem is in the cd pickup head, or the pladder motor that spins the disc is not working, in order to fix this the laser pickup assembly must be replaced, but the cost would to be greater than a new machine.

Teac A170S won't play, RW, FF, or record.

Can you hear the motor running, when you press any of the Play, Rew or FF buttons?. Just place your ear very close to the player and listen to it. If the answer is 'yes', the drive belt is broken or slipped off. You have to replace the drive belt. If the answer is 'no' the motor of your device's drive mechanism has damaged, and should be replaced. OK.

Cd player stops spinning about 30 seconds after it starts. I opened the case and watched. It starts playing ok and then slows down and eventually stops.

Is it belt driven? My guess is that the belt needs to be replaced. If it's direct drive, it's probably the motor itself. Make sure you try some different CDs. Sometimes when there are scratches or smudges, the laser can't read the disk and it will stop. You may want to try a laser cleaning disk too. They are cheap and I have saved several computer drives by using one.

How to fit drive belt on Teac x-3 deck

Remove the back panel, then the top and sides metal plate, the the fron (after removing the head cap and three tape guide rollers). Keep the parts together in a save place.
Then remove the head bracket. Behind the heads, the drive belt is located. Remove the old one, clean the small and large wheel with some isopropyl ethanol and then attach the belt preferably without touching it with bare hands (use some dentist's gloves for example). Finally reassemble all parts in reverse order.
You can get spare belts for the X-3 ad X-3R or MKii over at eBay.It's also easy to replace the couner belt once you've removed the front panel.

My kenwood dp-r99 reads ee

I just took my DP-R99 out of the closet and powered it up in my garage. After a short delay it reads EE. I took it apart and the belt that drives the laser head up to the CD and pressure disk to make it spin is slipping and never raising the head enough. It looks like the belt has stretched over the years. I am now going to look for a replacement belt and the belt that rotates the carriage since it is also stretched. I will let you know for sure when I install new belts. Hope this helps...

Replacement belt for Tascam 122

well, after a quick search on the net, the only place I can find that still carries them is consolidated electronics in the USA. I have ordered from them years ago and they were very good. You will find an online catalog and how to measure your belt to get the right one.

NOW.....when belts go, the rubber deteriorates with age. The belts stretch. Carefully, without stretching the belt further, place it on an inch ruler, belt laying flat. Make tight corners on the belt by pressing one side against the other and measuring the length against the ruler. The belt length is the measured length times 2. Write this number down !. Try stretching the belt A LITTLE....if it snaps back to length, then it isnt in too bad a shape, and you can order a belt 3% smaller and one 6% smaller. If you stretch the belt and is slooooooowly comes back, then the rubber has turned to licorice. If it If your belt has already stretched and it is still in one piece, when you measure it, it will be too big. I would order several belts, one 10% smaller, one 13% smaller and aonther 16% smaller, that way you should get the right one. If the belt has broken, without stretching it, **** the broken ends together and tape them butted together, then measure the belt. Its been a long time since I've done a 122', but if there are other belts in there too, order them as well. When one belt goes, there are more to follow in the very near future. I would first try contacting Teac/ Tascam to see if the correct belt is available from the factory, or possibly an entire belt kit !. If you need more instructions on belt measuring, go to : and follow instructions at the top of the page.

Good luck.....Rob

Teac turntable belt came off.. help!

Through the 2 holes on the platter, lift the platter up. Take the belt, flip the platter over, and stretch it around the center ring. Flip the platter back over and turn to so one of the holes is over the spinning motor. With your finger or with a blackstick, stretch it back onto the motor head.

Also check the belt for wear....that should do it.

Keep me posted.
