Question about Mintek MDP-1770 Portable DVD Player

1 Answer

My Mintek 1770 dvd player will not load the disc because when the lid goes down the little plastic pointer does not properly engage the button that starts the DVD spinning when the lid is closed. If I try to push the button down manually with a pencil, the disc will spin but not fast enough for the laser to recognize the DVD. Is this an expensive fix or can I do it myself?

I was given a mintek dvd player model mdp-1770 it is say no disc when there a dvd in it i have tryed recalbreting it by sliding back forth four time then loading a cd but it still reads no disc

If the unit plays CDs but not DVDs, then the LED for DVDs is burned out. There are separate LEDs for CD and DVD operation.
If neither plays, there is a more fundamental problem. In any case, only factory service will correct the problem with your "white elephant".
I have exactly this model.

Tip

Mintek factory solution for the forever loading disc problem.

With the power turned off, open the DVD Player, and then open the top where you load the DVD into the player. Locate the laser lens and notice that the laser is attached to a transport assembly that moves the laser diagonally outward in a slot. 1. Slide this assembly outward to the end of its track. 2. Slide the assembly back inward to the closest inward position. 3. Repeat the process of sliding the assembly outward and then back inward.4. Put in a music CD and let it play all the way through. This helps to calibrate the laser head assembly movement. When the music CD is finished playing. 5. Put in a DVD, and you should have a working unit again This is a factory solution from Mintek that was given to a customer who ask for help with the forever loading disc problems. This solution may work on other models of portable DVD players. Most portable DVD players use this type of transport mechanism. Try this solution it might work for you.

Mintek 1770 dvd

This usually can only be be three things. First, it could be the DVD. If thats not it, the sensor on the DVD can be dirty. You can use one of those computer air cans to clean the insides out(usually). If not, you have a bad sensor. Most of the time, when i have issues with DVD players, thats usually the culprit. In which case, I hope you saved the receipt because you probably have to return for an exchange or refund.
