If your dryer is not drying like it once did or if you just have not taken the time to give yourself a clean dryer in a long time then you need to do that. At least once a year the dryer cleaning should take place. Lint build up in the dryer duct is one of the main causes for your dryer to fail.

GE Dryer DBSR453Eb2WW takes twice as long to dry clothes

A clogged or partially clogged vent will reduce the air flow through the dryer and greatly increase the drying time. I assume you checked the drying time again after you cleaned the vents. Have you also checked that the lint trap is clean? Make sure no lint has found it's way around the lint trap and has jammed the intake.

I would be very suspicious of the 240 v breaker double breaker feeding the dyrer; maybe the dryer is only running on 120 vac instead of the full 240vac. The motor would be getting full power, but the heating element would only be getting half power.

How do I clean a Hawaiian Breeze tower fan?

Unplug fan. Lay the fan face down. Remove the four screws holding the stand to the base. Slide the stand all the way off the cord. Look at bottom of fan and find the small half circle indent just to left of center. There is a screw there, remove it. Go to the hand grip at the top of the back and pry out the two white rubber plugs to reveal two more screws, remove them. Back cover can now slide downward. May take a little squeezing at the center of the grille where internal clip is. Remove two screws at top of squirrel cage. Turn squirrel cage and loosen screw at bottom collar on motor shaft. Tilt the top of the squirrel cage outward slightly and slide upward to remove the squirrel cage. You can slip upper metal bracket off and set aside. Motor is held in by two screws, remove them and flip motor out of the way. There are two screws below where motor sat that hold in base of front grille, remove. Front grille has a series of clips along edges, carefully pry them inward from bottom to top and push grille gently outwards. You can now clean the rear grille, front grille and squirrel cage in warm soapy water and allow to dry. While they are drying, use a vacuum and dust rags to clean interior. When parts are dry, reinstall front grille and reinstall 2 screws. Reinstall motor with two screws. Turn motor shaft so flat notch is pointing up. Recommend to spray a tiny bit of WD-40 or a tiny dab of moly grease on shaft at top of squirrel cage, then replace upper bearing bracket on top shaft. Slide collar end of squirrel cage onto motor shaft and align screw with shaft flat and tighten. Reinstall two screws at bracket at top of squirrel cage. Align back cover just a bit toward bottom, then slide upward and clips will snap into place. Reinstall two screws in hand hold area, then reinstall screw at bottom of cover at half circle notch. You'll need either a magnetic tip screwdriver or a pair of long needle-nosed pliers to get screw in hole before tightening. Feed cord back through base and reinstall 4 screws. It took me about half an hour to do this whole process on each of my two Hawaiian Breeze fans, but they now look brand new and run very quiet.

I have a 7005 asko dryer and it is not drying clothes. It heats and tumbles for hours but the clothes never dry. I have cleaned the filter. Any ideas?

Hi, Sorry you have had to wait so long for an answer or possible solution. Hopefully it's not too late. There are two things to look for on an Asko dryer that is heating & tumbling but not drying ( since you've indicated the lint screen has been cleaned ) 1) a clogged vent...however this doesn't seem likely since you have heat & a poor vent usually trips the manual hi-limit reset on the heater housing in back. 2) a loose or broken exhaust blower wheel...this IS most likely and I've come across quite a few. The squirrel cage type blower has a "D" shaped shaft which fits to the shaft of the motor and is held there via a single nut. Over time or use, the blower will stripe the "D" shape shaft which enables it to not move the exhaust sufficiently, hence the items do not dry properly or as they once did. You can chrck this by pulling the access panel off followed by the plastic covering ( exhaust housing covers ) to expose the blower wheel. If it spins freely and independant of the motor, you'll need to tighten it or, more likely need to replace it. Hope this was helpful in solving your problem. Thanks for coming to "fixya" and let me know if I can assist you further. Good luck. Macmarkus :)

Too much lint is getting past the lint trap. How

if the filter isn't damaged then this is normal, you should take off the bottom panel and use a shop vac to blow out all the lint inside the dryer especially the motorand blow it forward and vac it up so you don't have to pull the drum to clean it,then remove the lint filter and take off the duct that the filter slides into, now go outside and make sure nothing is blocking the flapper like an animal cage that comes with some of the outside vents,if it's clear go inside and remove the vent line,if it's a long run from the dryer to the outside blow it out with a leaf blower, you should do this once a year and your clothes will always dry on time and your motor and other parts will last longer, when the lint builds up the dryer runs hotter and longer and that's what damages the dryer

I want to clean the squirl cage fan on my Carrier handler. It's 12 years old and never really been cleaned. What is the best cleaning procedure to maximize its efficiency.

The best way to really clean the squirrel cage is to remove the entire indoor blower motor housing assembly out of the furnace then remove the squirrel cage from the motor shaft and pressure wash the squirrel cage. Make sure you don't use to much water pressure as you might knock off any balancing weights that may be attached to the one or more of the vanes. Make sure the cage is completely dry before you re-install it back on the motor shaft.

My Asko dryer does not dry clothes. It shuts off

It is quite common for lint to cover the blower on these units, making it impossible for the dryer to move any air.

1)remove the lower panel. you will need a T20 driver for this and may need to tip the dryer slightly to the rear

2)remove the left part of the blower plenum. this is held by 3 plastic tabs and a T15 screw

You will now see the blower wheel, it is a squirrel cage type. Check for lint buildup, broken vanes, or string/thread wrapped around the shaft.

if there is no problem with the blower then there is another reason you are not moving air. let me know if this helps

My dryer is not drying properly. It takes 2 cycles to get clothes dry. I have cleaned the lint traps and vents but that did not seem to help. Is it worth fixing or is it time to get a new dryer?

You need to check the blower compartment to see if there is a restriction in airflow, also check the thermostat on the system as well. Where the stat is located is brand specific. Check your wiring diagram that is typically stored somewhere near the electronics on the inside in an envelope.

Plugged venting causing low heat and poor lint output?

you need to check the dryer vent hole on the back of the dryer, make sure it's not blocked, also check the wall vent for the same thing, most of the time if there is a clogg it holds the moisture in the dryer and it take forever to dry,you can use a shop vac to **** out any clogged lint in dryer and wall ,then if you have a leaf blower put it on the wall side and blow it it all out.let me know how you do-mike

Cleaned vent hose, dryer still taking forever to dry clothes.

you have a family of squirrels living in the rest of the vent tube which is leading outside...check vent outside. I once had flying squirrels come into my house through the dryer vent! My dog had a kitten.
