On the starter there will be a big lug this is where the (+) from the battery goes then there will be a smaller wire lug called a spade lug this might be marker with a (S) this is a small wire that will go from the battery to a switch that is a momentary connection then to the spade lug when you push the switch the power is applied to to solenoid inside that will engage the starter and run release after started some have just the big lug in this case you will need to have a external solenoid and the + from the battery to one side and the other to the lug on the starter there will be a small wire hook up as well on the solenoid marked with a s and the switch will go to that some solenoid's have 2 small wire up points side by side use the one Marks with a (S) the other not needed mount the solenoid to ether the engine or the frame the mount is the grounding plane for the solenoid hope this helps

98 chevy malibu my alt isnt charging new alt batt test good cut out the fuselink on starter the alt wire runs thru firewall If i run a wire straight to the batt it is putting out 19v any suggestions

Did you check the fuse in the under hood fuse box ? GEN / BATT fuse 10amp . Is your check engine light on ? This is a computer controlled charging system , it should have four wires connected to the alternator . 1 - the heavier wire on the back ,this comes fro the starter - the one with fusible link , you could have checked for battery voltage with voltmeter ! The three other wires in the connector are the orange one ,this comes from the GEN / BATT fuse an should have battery voltage ! The last two come from the PCM - engine computer . The gray wire is the turn on signal from the PCM an the Red wire is the control from PCM ! Charging System Wiring Diagram MOTOR Magazine Article MOTOR Information Systems

I bought a 2001 Crown Vic Interceptor with everything in it. The horn wont work, though and i did a direct battery connection to a seperate battery and still nothing. fuse problem? and where is the fuse...

When they removed their wig wag and siren from my car, they cut the c.r. ap out of the wires. What a mess! Took a piece of wire (with both ends stripped) to test with... stripped a small area on each wire, and touched the test wire to the bare spot and the battery, until the horn sounded... that is the wire we used. Then, using a push button bought at Auto Zone ran a doubled wire inside the cab, cut it and placed one end on each side of the button... under the hood, one end of the new wire connects to the one that made the horn sound, and the other end of the new wire connects to the battery. Use electrical tape to cover every wire that was shaved, the ones used AND the ones not used. NOT PRETTY... but we have a horn.

Cut generator into 230 volt water pump system

I would double check the wiring at water pump to verify the operating voltage and that the red, black and yellow are wired as you think and make sure you double check the wiring to the generator and verify the voltages of the unit with it running before you shut it off and make your final connections.Make sure youe your ground/neutrals are correct first the wire the hot leads.

Someone cut tail light wire and i need to know how to fix it

If you can see the cut wires then simply join the same color coordinating wires with a crimping style wire connector that you can purchase from WalMart or any auto parts store. Make sure and strip the plastic casing around the wires on both ends before using the wire connector. After the connector has been crimped to both wires, wrap electrical tape around the connector to seal off from water.
