If you have the original remote, you should be able to hit menu,go to picture,or maybe channel select,(different tv's have different options),and you should be able to do an auto search and it will get everything out there which it is capable of receiving. We have a straight cable with no box and ours works fine.It will pick up all the "basic" channels, and ours also receives a few digital channels under that subject. The ones under where it just says TV,you can erase by add/delete button. If you have had a box with this TV since day 1,it is just a matter of learning how the separate sections work, how to add/delete unnecessary channels and some other stuff. After it goes through the auto search, you open the menu again and you should have(at least ours does,I would imagine all flat screens do)and select picture, across the TV at the top it will read DTV,TV,Cable DTV,and cable TV.If you do not have the original remote, there should be a menu button to work somewhere around the TV borders. If you need more help or have a question, just comment to this post and I will get an auto link in my email.Good luck! Greg

Rats!Like I said, different TV's have different options.Mine just happens to be under picture...kinda wierd but who knows?I know asking if you searched through all the options in your remote would most likely be a stupid question but...anyhow,here is a link to some Olevia user manual downloads(it seems to be free but many websites do that too then when you go to download...BAM credit card # please?)and requires Adobe. If you do not have it it is a FREE,SAFE download which I have used for years,no junk.So try it out and see if you can find yours on it.If it doesn't happen, please feel free to let me know and I will dig some more.Good luck! Greg

Hi, well most likely you will need a suitable antenna. The existing one you have may NOT be suitable to receive terrestrial TV.
A TV when supplied with a signal, should simply Tune the channels, when setting up, you would have to rescan ALL the channels again as they would be set to the "Old" settings and not the new, You need to obtain your user manual and go through the tuning procedure again to reset the channel settings and tune the new channels.

LED TV takes 7-13 mins to display a picture when hooked up to cable DVR box, when hooked up w/ out DVR Does Not do that???

I would suggest you verify your cabling. Are you using HDMI cables? Connect a HDMI cable from the TV HDMI 1 to the Cable DVR Box, In the TV setup ,select HDMI 1 as source. If your Cable box does not have HDMI contact the provider for a updated box. With out the Make, Model of Box, Cable? Sat? Make, Model of TV. I don't know the connections?

Connected lg tv directly to cable wall jack. Can only get one channel. Manual scan grayed out. Ez scan does not find any channels. Main input is set to cable box. No option for just cable

Why not get a box and hook via rear inputs--not that expensive from most cable companies. If items such as the channel scan are grayed out it means something in the set is set wrong---

Most likelly it is your DVR that has a problem. Their are a lot of issues with those DVR's from the cable or satellite companies. I would recomend swapping it out.

How do you connect the cable to the tv? I have a dvr box but dont know where the connection on the tv is?

Cable from box to t.v , from antenna to box . If you have a hdmi cable plug into the back of the box, and plug into the hdmi input on the back or side of your t.v

Cable TV blinks on and off when connected to my Onkyo receiver.

I have the same problem.  It only occurs with my HD DVR (HDMI cable), not my blue ray (HDMI cable), or my xbox and wii (component video).  Video and audio cutout is random and drives the family nuts.  I am desperate for a solution.

Connecting HD cable box to DVR too HDTV

When I hooked up my HD cable box using an HDMI cable, I had to go into the cable screen menus and select HDMI output. You may have to do something similar when using an S-video cable. Your DVD recorder doesn't seem to have an HDMI input, so you'll have to use the S-video or (worst case) composite video (red, white, yellow cords). Your cable box may also be scrambling the signal so that you can't record. That may be why you can record by bypassing the cable box.

We can't get the dvr/cable box to work with the tv

Assuming you have connected the DVR/Cable box with a standard co-axial antenna cable, switch on the box and go to the tuning menu on the TV.

Tuning details are in the TV manual. If you don't have the manual, download here:

https://www.p4c.philips.com/files/1/13mt143s/13mt143s_dfu_aen.pdf

When tuning is completed go through the channels to find the cable box. (Note: TV will not tune to the box if it is not switched on when tuning)

If there is still no connection, the DVR/Cable box may need connecting with a composite video cable (red / white / yellow RCA connectors), rather than just a standard co-ax cable.

The connection is at the front of the TV. There is no red connector on this TV so you will have to use an adaptor to connect both left and right (red & white) audio into the white socket. Select AV on the remote control.
