No heat - Kenmore - model 75811

"For a Gas Dryer:
1: Check if the igniter glows, if the igniter glows for a short time, followed by a distinct "click" then shuts off, you most likely have to replace the valve coils. "
I have this same problem. Just wanted to verify that these are the two small cylinder shaped pieces just past the internal gas value. the parts manual shows them as "coil 60Hz, (2 terminal Main and 3 terminal pilot position)

Is it just as simple as unscrewing the bracket, unplugging tehm and repclaing them?

Sorry I haven't been on recently....with the Kenmore dryer you should just purchase part # 279834, it includes both coils, better than messing with them one at a time. Yes, it is a simple matter of removing the bracket, sliding the coils up and off, and replacing them. Sorry for the late response, you probably have it figured out already. : )

Correct - it is that simple. I just went through the same thing - not even 15 minutes ago. And, they are basically linear motor fields. The drive the cylinder (post they slip over) out, opening the valve, allowing gas flow.

Our Whirlpool Model LGR4634JQ0 will not heat up. I took the peep hole cover off and watched as I turned the gas dryer on (high heat). The chamber heats up and glows bright orange for maybe 15-20 seconds...

You're a good detective! Gas dryers have an ignition panel (what you saw glowing bright orange) that heats until it reaches a certain temperature. This temperature will cause the gas from the pilot to ignite and the dryer will run, staying at a constant temperature and thereby drying your clothes. It sounds as it your ignition panel needs to be replaced. It is a relatively simple process if you are comfortable making repairs. If you aren't, I suggest calling a repair professional. We did this a num ber of years ago. The repair service was reasonably priced and our dryer worked for another 6 years!
Good luck. If this works, please return to Fixya and rate my advice!

Kenmore series 500 gas dryer not heating up. model # 77542600 Other than the ignitor what could be the problem?

Check the coils on gas valve. If igniter glows bright & no CLICK sound heard after a few seconds of igniter glowing, coils are bad, or flame sensor if so equiped

Kenmore gas dryer not heating

you need to by a meter to read out the parts that could be bad.most likely it's the ignitor from the parts you said you've already changed but just unplug the dryer unplug the ignitor put your meter on say 20k it doesn't matter, touch the leads to the ignitor wires inside the plastic connector and if it stays on 1 it's bad if you get a reading any reading except 1 it's good that's it,if it is good check the thermal fuse, you have to pull at least one of the wires off to get the correct reading,if that's good check the sensor, hopefully it will be one of these parts,if it's a timer, motor, or gas valve you might want to replace the dryer depending on how old and what shape it's in,good luck,if you need any more help let me know

Kenmore model #77974110 gas dryer won't heat

with that brief description, i can only suggest a few primary and common problems. check the door switch. the igniter is not igniting due to breakage or a loss of signal. or, the gas solenoids are burned out. listen for the sound of buzzing; if you hear a buzzing and get no ignition, the solenoids are probably shot. if you can look into the unit near the bottom, turn it on and see if you see a glow. if you do the igniter is probably good.
there is on most models an igniter sensor; that might be an issue
thats all i got....hope it helps...........................jay

Kenmore Gas Dryer Model 75731 Dryer Won't Heat

The orange glow is the ignitor. If the ignitor is glowing but the gas does not light then the flame sensor may have to be replaced. If the gas ignites but does not stay on either the flame sensor or the coils are at fault.

No heat burner comes on for a few minutes and then goes out

Check the following to address this issue.

1. Gas valve coils
Igniter glows, then shuts off without igniting gas - the problem is probably with defective coils (black, located on top of the gas valve). It is recommended to replace all coils (usually two or three) if found defective.

Note: Sometimes the whole gas valve may be defective, thus not letting the gas out. However, this problem is not common.

2. Thermal fuse
Most dryers have a thermal fuse, which burns out when the dryer overheats, in which case the dryer will either not run at all or stop heating. The fuse is usually located on the vent duct, inside the dryer. A blown fuse will show no continuity when measured with a meter. Before replacing the fuse, make sure the blower wheel is not broken or clogged, and there is nothing blocking the venting.

Note: It is recommended by most dryer manufacturers to replace a hi-limit thermostat when replacing a thermal fuse.

3. Igniter
Igniter may burn out or break. Replace the igniter if found defective.

Note: Igniters are very fragile and break easily. It is recommended to handle the igniter only touching the ceramic part of it (usually white in color).

4. Flame sensor (or radiant heat sensor)
Replace the sensor (located near the igniter) if found defective.
