There could be a small bit of grit stopping the non return valve in the inlet pipe from sealing fully which would allow a pressure drop causing it to hunt. The valve may also be just plain faulty.and require replacement.

Bostitch just blows air when trigger is pulled

Air leaking from trigger when attempting to fire the gun is normal and should cause nailer to fire, however if the trigger pin is not depressed all the way in,the gun may not respond. Easy test. Remove the nails and remove the trigger. Connect the gun to air and quickly depress the valve pin all the way in with finger. If the gun fires, adjust the safety foot so that the trigger pin is depressed all the way in. If the gun still does not fire, then remove the head cap and pull out the headvalve. Apply plenty of white grease to orings and retest. If the gun fires, then replace the headvalve orings. When the headvalve orings are worn, air will leak from bulkhead chamber to the headvalve chamber causing the gun to not respond to the trigger. The addition of grease to worn orings will make them temporarily seal. Good luck

Air leaking from trigger Bostitch SB1850BN

Most likely the orings or seals in the headvalve are not making perfect seal. Remove the head and pull out the headvalve. Apply plenty of white grease to orings and test again. If the gun fires, then will need oring kit soon, or just keep using plenty of grease. If the gun still does not fire, check that the safety foot is depressing the trigger valve all the way in. Good luck

I have a Bostich coil roofing nailer #RN46-1 leaking air at trigger area when depressed. Replaced trigger assy but same results. Anything else it could be?

Sounds like your gun needs servicing. normally strip, clean and usually fit new O rings to head valve assy, piston & usually sleeve.

Hitachi 45ab blowing air out of trigger

If air leaks thru trigger as soon as you connect airline, replace the vinyl ball under the trigger stem. If air leaks when you depress the trigger, replace the small oring on the trigger stem. If air leaks slightly from plunger in front of the trigger valve, problem is inside of the gun. Remove the head and pull the large circular plate. Replace the large outer oring. Good luck

I put a new o ring rebuild kit in my Bostitch N80 sb framing nailer. I replaced every o-ring (including the trigger valve assembly

If the new trigger valve leaks air when you connect the air supply, most likely defective valve or air is leaking past outer trigger valve orings due to debris in the slot or new orings were cut when the valve was pushed in. If air leaks when you depress safety to fire gun then most likely problem is in the head valve or safety foot is not pushing the firing pin all the way in. Easy test, remove nails and remove the trigger to expose the firing pin. Connect air and very quickly depress the firing pin all the way in. If the gun fires, adjust the safety foot as needed. If the gun does not fire, remove the head and check headvalve orings for good snug fit against the cylinder within the head. The surface were orings make contact must be very smooth and not too deeply worn. If you notice fine scratches remove with fine sandpaper. Reinstall head using plenty of white grease on all the orings within the head and retest. Good luck

Hitatchi nv45b2 trigger leaking

Air leaking around the trigger area could be caused by vinyl ball / gasket under trigger valve bushing or orings within the gun. Easy test, remove nails and connect air (assuming that air is now leaking around the trigger area). Depressing the trigger stops the leak, replace vinyl ball. Depressing trigger does not stop leak, move plunger b (plunger B, small shaft under bubber bushing next to the trigger valve) with your finger in then out to determine if air leak changes tone. If air leak changes sound or tone, then air is leaking past orings of the cylinder guide and/or cylinder plate and/ or the cylinder itself is scratched by debris where the orings make contact. Pull out the cylinder and examine the contact areas. If scratched, use 300 grit paper to smooth, if smooth, however, suspect the orings of cylinder guide (or cylinder guide is cracked). The cylinder guide is difficult to remove and install without causing damage to guide or cutting new orings when installing. Do not remove the guide unless all the other options have been checked. One last bit if information, I have noticed that some guns will leak air if the orings on the feeder piston do not fit snuggly. Make sure that leaking sound is not coming from feeder area (remove the basket and feeder/feeder pin/spring and pull out the feed piston, making sure that the largest oring is making good contact within the cylinder). Good luck with repair.

Generally, when you attempt to fire and only get an air sound at the trigger, the problem is air leaking past the orings in the head valve. Here are a few things to check and a simple test.
Remove the trigger from the gun so that you can have access to the trigger pin. Remove the nails from the gun. After removing the trigger and the nails, reconnect the air supply (check for 100psi) Place the nose of the gun against wood and with a very quick ****, depress the trigger pin all the way in. If the gun fires then the safety foot is not allowing the trigger to depress the pin all the way in. Make adjustments to safety and check for worn trigger and trigger retainer pin. If the gun does not fire, remove the head. Place the head on table and depress the headvalve all the way in with your thumbs then place a finger over the small vent-hole on the gasket surface and release thumb pressure. The headvalve should remain depressed due to vacuum in the valve and will pop up when you remove your finger on vent hole. If the headvalve does not stay in, air is leaking past the orings. Remove headvalve parts and use magnify lens to find small scratches on the surface where orings contact. Remove scratches with very fine sandpaper (300 - 400 grit) Make sure all the orings are not cut (use magnify lens) and fit snuggly. Lube with "Danco silicone grease" available at lowes in the plumbing department. It is used to lubricate orings in faucets. After re-assembly, do vacuum test as described above. If you have vacuum, head is ok. Make sure that the gasket seals around the vent hole where the head mates against the body. You should be good to go. Good Luck and email if you have other questions.

Air leaks arond trigger when depressed, but no nail fires.

Where does the air leak out from? If it leaks from the trigger DeWalt makes a trigger valve assembly part # 641006-00 list 8.89 BUT if it leaks from other areas we have to look into it deeper. If it is just the trigger valve let me know and I will give you instructions how to remove and install the new one.
