SOURCE: i want to add 2

well a light cicuit is pretty simple .run your hot wire to your battery then to one side of your switch and the other side of the switch to the lights the other side of the lights go to ground which is the frame any where or the chassis as long it is grounded (as it should be ) to the frame. Your switch will be wired directly so dont leave on and put a fuse in there from switch to light matching what ever amperage the light is . Divide watts by 12 and that is your amps

How do you determine what each leg on a 6 leg toggle switch is for?

Need more info. Model of boat? Try getting wiring diagram online? How did the switches function when they were working -- did each switch do the same thing, i.e. turn the same lights either off or on? In any case, you DON'T want to willy-nilly try running a new power lead without knowing exactly what's going on, else you may massively fry wiring, other accessories, switches, etc, or even start a fire. No getting around that you need to track (using a multimeter set to read 12 DC volts) from the power source (battery/alternator), along whatever wire(s) you think might be going to those switches (color coding of wires may provide clues), and determine where the break occurs. 99% of the time that will be at a connection, rather than in the wire itself. Do you have power at your controls/gauges? Check crimp connections especially, if you have any -- they can eventually die in marine environments. My guess is that finding and fixing one or more bad connections will get you lighted again. Use marine-grade replacement electrical parts from WestMarine/BoatUS/Defender/etc., rather than Home Depot parts.

I want to know to to install my kill switch nothing wrong with it and to know we're to put where it belongs

A kill switch is an effective and economical way to dissuade a thief from taking your car. While it may not prevent a professional thief from stealing it, it will likely deter the average amateur. The key to how to install a kill switch is the choice of what type of switch and where to place it. A kill switch that controls the power to you fuel pump is far more effective then a regular battery kill switch, because it is unexpected and can be well hidden.

Moderately Easy

Things You'll Need:

Wiring diagram for vehicle Electrical tape Toggle switch Drill Phillips head screwdriver #14 wire Inline fuse Wire crimping pliers (2) **** connectors (2) Post connectors (type dependent on switch)

Park your car on a level spot with the parking brake on. Raise the hood and disconnect the battery cable.

Use your wiring diagram to locate the power wire for your fuel pump. Make sure this is the power wire and not the ground by following the wire to the fusebox (or ignition). The ground will terminate to a connection to the frame of the car. Place a 'tag' on the power wire under the dash with a piece of electrical tape so you can find it again easily.

Open the package to your toggle switch and remove the mounting bracket and hardware. Follow the directions to mount the switch under your car's dash, or on the body of the driver's seat. You will need to use a drill if you do not have pre-drilled holes for the mounting screws. Make sure the switch is tightly installed by pressing firmly into the screws with your Philips Head screwdriver and turning it clockwise until it is hand tight.

Cut the power wire to your fuel pump with the middle section of your electrical crimping pliers.

Cut two pieces of #14 wire long enough to run from the back of the kill switch to the cut power wire.

Strip the ends of the cut power wire and both ends of each piece of #14 wire. Use **** connectors to connect a #14 wire to each of the ends of the power wire. Crimp the **** connector closed over the joined wires ,and pull lightly to make sure the connection is solid.

Attach the wire connectors to the bare ends of the two pieces of #14 wire (style will depend on the connectors of your toggle switch), crimp into place and tug test again.

Connect the #14 wire that joins the power wire that goes into fusebox or ignition box to the connection on the toggle switch that is above the base of the toggle (there will be only two connectors on the back of the switch; do not use the 3 post kind, as that is a lighted switch and easily found).

Connect the remaining #14 wire to the switch. Re-connect the negative cable to the battery and test your switch, make sure you can hear the pump come on, and you are done.

Tips & Warnings

Re-wire any accessories that need constant power (like the clock, radio or any other anti-theft devices you have) directly to the battery.

Never do any work on any electrical component of the battery without first disconnecting the negative cable on the battery; if it remains connected, you run the risk of a shock or fire while working.

Need a diagram to hook an aircomprerssor for air bags to relay a toggle switch

What is your control voltage? Does the compressor have a pressure switch? Single pole or double throw? AC? DC?

If you mean for airbags for suspension, the heavy conductor(s) to the compressor. is what you will wire to the relay contacts- normally open "N/O" is marked on relay diagram on relay or it's schematic with installation kit. You only need to interupt the hot (+12 volt) side.

And the coil of the relay is simply one side to ground/chassis where ever is convenient, the other side to the switch you want to control the relay and then the other terminal of the switch to the source, either the battery, or the switched accesory power buss on the power distribution center under the hood.of the vehicle.

Hi vallast

Here is a diagram on how to wire your 3 toggle setup.
3cd7a58.gif There are endless variations on how to do it. Pickups can be switched in and out of phase, in parallel or series.

Check out here for more details on the above wiring diagram.

Strat style wiring is done with a 5 way switch generally. Using the toggles allows you to rephase vitually all the pickups getting heaps of different tones. Thanks for using FixYa, good luck.
