Hold down the "ALT(ernate) GRA(phic)" key while you press the '@' key, in order to get the "alternate" character.

Purchased two toshiba satellites for christmas and both computer's arrow keys are not working model number L455D-S5976

This is a keyboard issue, meaning the keyboards are defective or the ribbon connection to the motherboard is incomplete. The items should be brought back for exchange and make them check the new ones on the spot to make sure there will be no issues.

Toshiba satellite cursor frozen to one spot how do I :unlock/unfreeze the cursor (happened after cat walked across the keyboard

The touch screen don't work ? Do you use an external mouse ? Did you replace the external mouse if you have one?
1st gingerly, and softly pass your hand across the entire keyboard from left to right, then right to left touching ALL keys [[ ALL]] . go up and down the keyboard .
2nd take the eraser of the pencil and gently TAP all keys to UNstick any key that could be shorted out. If that don't work, get back to me so that I can show you how to use a WORD PROCESSOR to find your problem.

" symbol attached to 2 shift in wrong spot - how to fix?

Hello, it's probably a UK keyboard set for US operation...or vice versa! Assuming you're using XP (you don't specify what you're running):
Open up Control Panel, select 'Regional and Language Options', then select 'Languages' tab.Click 'Details'. A window opens up and it will indicate which country/keyboard you're currently running. If you're UK and it's set to US, change it,. You may also have to select a different language/keyboard in the drop-down menu box, and you probably will have to perform a reboot to enable the new setting.
If you're not running XP you may have to google for a solution, but it will be similar to the above.

Toshiba L500 - the @ and " are reversed

Hello,

its normal, its not all keyboard that has there "@" on number 2. Even the latest HP laptops that are produced these days have their @ on the same position like yours. You will find @ at the right side of the key board, near later "L".

Its normal, there is nothing to worry about because its not a fault. Just try to get use with the new changes.

Take care.

How do I replace the keyboard?

next to the F1 key and the windows key (2nd upper key and second to last key) are two screws, usually under some covering. unscrew and lift top edge of the keyboard towards the trackpad to lay face down. Undo the wire ribbon by lifting the grey or brown tabs and remove ribbon and keyboard. Then install the new keyboard by inserting the ribbon on the place. Lock down with the tabs and put the plastic prongs (close to the space bar) into the laptop body first, and then close keyboard onto the final position. screw back in and thats all. nboulikas@gmail.com for any additional questions.

Dear Sir, Re: Laptop NEC Versa E6300. When I am using the keyboard a,b,c,...I get the wrong letters. Somebody told me I have pressed the ''Fn'' key by mistake. Please help & thanks. Regards Sheik A...

The fn key would convert most abc keys into function keys not make them produce other letters. You may have changed your region settings or your keyboard style. Both can be changed under the control panel under keyboard settings.

My keyboard is a mess when almost all the keys

They may have removed the keys to clean the keyboard and placed them back in the wrong spot.
Check the keys against another beyboard and see if the keys have been placed in the wrong spot.
Take it back to the people/company that did the work and tell then the keyboard is not working properly.

My light under the f10 turns on for not reason and then 0 will start going in all of my username or passwork or whenever I type. Thanks for help Steve

That commonly happens when something a key is stuck. as you are having an issue with two keys the problem is likely dirt or moisture in the keyboard itself. as the f10 and 0 keys are near eachother and also near the edge of the keyboard I am leaning towards something being in the membraine of the keyboard itself. Laptop keyboards tend to be spot welded and or glued making them impossable to take apart and clean properly. if you cant get it cleaned with compressed air you would be best to find a replacement keyboard from the original manufacturer or an otherwise broken laptop from ebay.
