I have a Whirlpool Duet with a code F 11. I replaced the CCU, do you think its the Motor Control Board or is it time to recycle?

you'll need to call someone in on this one,boards are very expensive and like it says it names both the ccu and mcu boards or the motor,if you call say whirlpool they might give you the part but you pay for labor and they will have the boards on the truck,the guy will replace one board at a time to see what one is bad,not like the older machines that you can check the parts with a meter.good luck

My wife loved the Whirlpool Duet washing machine when she first got it, but now I think she would be happy to push it off of a cliff. We haven't even had it 2 years and about once a week it stops working in mid cycle. It beeps, flashes F11 error code, stays locked and there is no way to unlock it to get the wet clothes out. We have tried unplugging it to reset it. Sometimes this method works but sometimes it doesn't and when that happens, the wet clothes are stuck inside the machine...sometimes overnight. We've called the repairman a couple of times ($50 a pop) to unlock the door and get it started again. The repairman told me this is an extremely common problem with the Whirlpool Duets. Some of the computer units must have been faulty. It's hit or miss for those of you who are thinking about purchasing this and the problems usually start after the first year or two.

TIP: If your machine displays this error code and it is within the time period of your warranty, get the CCU replaced ASAP. Don't let Whirlpool stall while your warranty runs out. You should have a 1 or 2 year warranty which covers electronics.

We have to buy a new door lock and have the CCU replaced. The problem is that the new part is not guaranteed...not even for one day so if we get another faulty unit, we'll have the same problems again after a year of use.


Starting to see these fault codes pop up in these otherwise fine machines. The F/11 code is just a generic code generated when there’s a communications error between the two main control boards in the washer. These two boards are the Motor Control Unit (MCU) and the Central Control Unit (CCU).

A common problem is the wiring harness jiggling loose; remove and reseat it and that usually fixes it. If not, then you’re looking at spending some money on control boards. Yes, I said boards, plural. The really sucky part is that there’s no way to definitively and conclusively prove which board, the MCU or the CCU, is at fault so, unfortunately, that only leaves trial and error.

F11 is the code for a communication error between the CCU and motor control unit.  sometimes just re-seating the connectors on the CCU cures it.  if not, odds are it is a faulty CCU and needs to be replaced.

The F-11 error code is an indication of a water temperature sensor error. There is a chance that there is a loose wire connection on the water temperature

what you will have to do to fix up the problem is to unscrew the washer (open) then clean up all form of water in the surrounding of the wire and the screen then couple it back again with this the problem is solve but note this you most take care of the water level all the time .
then also make sure that all wire are connected to there position .

EEPROM error

The Central Control Unit (CCU) receives it’s data from an EEPROM on board the CCU. If there is an error reading this data it will cause this error.

Potential Causes

• A power glitch may cause this error. Try unplugging the Unit for two minutes to see if that fixes the error.
• Check CCU.

Replace failed component.(if the reset doesn't clear thsi issue, replace the CCU)
