How do i know if oven ignitor is weak or bad - Amana ARGS7650 Electric Kitchen Range

Probably just a weak ignitor. Fairly common on these. If you can change a spark lug you can change an ignitor.. These get weak and dim. if yours comes on but is dim orange it is weak and not allowing the bi-metal to open. If yall bump the stove and the oven comes on that is another sign of a worn out ignitor:

Everything in the circuit must have continuity for the oven to fire up. What if the ignitor glows but the oven will still not come on? If the ignitor is glowing that would mean you have a circuit.
Solution: Replace the ignitor, even if it comes on. Why? Because 99% of the time the ignitor is weak.

Their are several different gas safety valves. On ovens with ignitors, if the ignitor is weak then the oven will not light off, but what if the igniter is new and the oven will not come on?
An easy way to know for sure if that safety is bad is to see if it is open. If it has no continuity then the igniter is not going to come on.

The ignitor draws amperage thru gas valve which opens the bimetal valve to release the gas.Round ignitor 2.75 amps. Rect. 3.5 amps.Bottom line if burner dont fire within 60 seconds of turning orange you have a weak/bad ignitor.Hope this helps.Please rate my response :)

Hi, It sounds like the ignitor is going bad. Even tho they glow, they get weak and will not open the gas valve. I would change the ignitor. Remove the floor panel in the oven and you can see the ignitor.
