On my 52 projection TV P52753AT I found that one of the Kine Sockets burned so it is just a matter of replacing it if I can find one or rebuilding it. And yes that will give it the clicking sound when you turn the TV on. I'm just glad I am a computer tech and I enjoy doing this kind of thing for a living.
There is a convergence printed circuit board that likely has a few bad components. If you decide to get it repaired, the technican will probably check for fluid leaks from the picture tubes coolant area which has given problems on this model also. If the picture quality leaves a bit to be desired, it may be a wise move to upgrade to HDTV. A Sony KDS-55A20 model has a great picture and should be less than $2300. I just saw one at a local Sams Club store.
