Hello bukination29,

It looks like there is an issue with the LCD display due to a defective resistor or the vertical blanking or a faulty soldering in the PCB. This, unfortunately, is not something that you can repair yourself. Try hitting it gently on your palm and see if it makes a difference. If you see anything different, it could indicate faulty soldering.

If your device is under warranty, I suggest you get it replaced. If not, then I'm afraid there is no other option but to take it to a repair shop to get it fixed.

Hope that helps!

If your issue is not resolved, please do not assign a rating just yet. Please post back as to what steps you took, results, etc, and I will try to assist you further as best I can. I am here at your service.

P.S. -You can rate this solution with one of four votes, if you feel your issue is resolved (remember that at times a bit of to and fro dialogue may be necessary to resolve an issue).

  • "FixYa!" - The solution provides great advice on how to solve the problem.
  • "Helpful" - The solution provides useful leads that helps solve the problem.
  • "Thanks for Trying" - The solution does not solve the problem but the effort is appreciated.
  • "Inappropriate" - The solution has absolutely nothing to do with the problem.
Thank you for using FIXYA!

Hi bukination29,

with the indulgence of IB4G2008...

You have to treat it like the LCD display of a laptop. The display panel has to be opened and the connectors inside the video interface/buffer has to be checked, it may just be loose connection. In certain instances it may be the flexible flat cable leading from the display panel down to the DVD deck area. Often problems with the flexible flat cable is an open wire or trace/strip.

Hope this be of additional help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Hmmm...is this not the case when viewing anything else? Let's eliminate the video portion, first..can you use that for anything else, like a VHS or VCR input?

Either the glass laser eye lens is dirty, or faulty. You can first try to clean with rubbing alcohol and cotton swab. If cleaning doesn't help, re-download drivers and cd-rom software. If problem still persists, get new laser eye unit or rom drive

I use my dvd player everyday. the model is a mdp

Sounds like the power pack/charger is at fault.
Test with a tester or bulb(correct voltage, will be written on power pack/charger) and a piece of wire.
Check for a blown fuse in the mains plug.
