The first question I have for you is who told you need a new motherboard and what problems are you having with your computer other than your loud fan.

Note with modern computer they have variable speed fans that fan faster when the computer is hot. It is the summer so your computer is going to run a little hotter than in the Winter.

Also another thing to look at is when the last time you cleaned the inside of your computer. Dust can build up and cut back on the air flow making the computer run hotter in turn causing your fan to run louder.

These are the things I would look at first. Then if you did have to look at a new system it would depend on the form factor of the case that you have. If you have a micro case you would be better off building a new system.

Briggs Stratton 5hp I/C starts ok, runs, but will not rev

My money is on a partial blockage of the main jet or the passageway to it. You're having to force it to run through the idle jet by fully choking the incoming air. There's not enough gas coming in with the choke open to allow it to run.

I'm thiniking total carb disassembly, carb cleaner and an air compressor combined with a ton of patience will take care of the issue.

These things are notorious for having the CPU heatsink grease dry up (and the processor speed steps down) but I'd also scan the hard disk for bad sectors.
If the fan has started sounding like a jet engine, it's more likely that it needs new heatsink grease on the CPU.

The govenor rod cannot be adjusted. The springs are intact. Motor revs up but will not idle down. It is 23 HP.

Just guessing here, but if there is no control of the throttle and the engine over revs, then more than likely the governor control is broke. Briggs if famous for that problem. Governor is around 25 dollars and a lower crankcase gasket. Requires the engine to be pulled, lower crankcase removed, remove all pieces of old governor and then re assemble with new governor and gasket.////Before doing all this check that both springs are on the governor on the exterior of motor. If you manually hold the governor arm back, counterclockwise, and it still revs, then you need to replace governor. Don't let it rev for long or it with throw a pushrod or worse. good luck

Need to reset manual governor on 10 hp briggs and stratton mod # 205412 type 0178-E1. took pan off the governor does not look bad or broke wasker under the governor looks good. I think someone moved the...

First loosen the pinch bolt and nut on the govener arm at the governor shaft. To set the governor make note of the governor arm to open the thottle wide open. Hold the governer arm to where the throttle is wide open then turn the governor shaft that is coming out of the engine block in the same direction until it stops then tighen the pinch bolt and nut on the governor arm to hold the arm in position on the governor shaft. Make sure when you start the engine you don't over rev it. Start it in low speed and move up slowly. You may need to reset the spring tension.

Steady Amber Power LED generally indicative of a failed MB. Remove all Memory, Expansion Cards, peripheral items, if still same, replace the motherboard. If you get a Green LED with jusr RAM in system, then an expansion card or peripheral might be the issue. 95% sure it is mothebroard

Problem installing ATI Radeon X1300 256mb in Dell Optiplex GX260

Hi edward,
I'm looking at the specs of your dell and of the video adapter.
It appears the Power Supply in your dell may to under powered for the video card.
According to dell's website the largest psu that ships with that unit is 250 watts while the radeon x1300 needs a minimum of 250 watts to run and assuming you have the 250 watt version you need to take into consideration that the psu is also powering your CPU, memory, fans, hard drive/s and other components on in your system so 250watts just isn't enough.
You may want to contact dell and see if there is a larger psu that you can purchase. I would recommend one at least in the 400 watt range.
I hope you get it straightened out I certainly know how frustrating it can be to not be able to use new hardware.
Let me know how it works out.

Have you checked the post lights located in the back of the system by where the keyboard plugs in? There are is a row of 4 lights; either yellow or green. If the systems gets stuck at a particular post location, the lights will tell where. Good luck
