Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

Hi - I recenty had a trojan virus that completely shut down my Sony Vaio VGN-FE550G. I took my laptop to Geek Squad to repair and they noted it had to be set back to it's original default settings, which they did and it's working again. But I'm now finding my Function Keys are NOT working in particular the F5 and F6 to adjust the screen brightness. Is this a drive issue and how do I resolve please. Thank you!

Thank you for your advice ....and the issue finally turned out to be that they had re-installed a CORRUPT operating system on the laptop.

At first they kept saying it was a hardwareissue most probably a mother board issue but after pushing and pushing and demanding a regional supervisor the issue was then resolved. They figured it out after installing a few other operating systems on it first.

Sony Vaio Laptop vgn-sz330p does not shut down

Hi,

This problem is generally caused by a hanging program or the registry is corrupt.

The best way i have found to resolve the problem is download a small program called "Superfast", not only does it shut XP down it does it in half the normal time and doesn't effect the computer in any way.

Download and install Superfast here >>>>>>>>>>

Once you have it installed try it, you'll be amazed!!!

Regards.

Screen displays gray shadow initially

hi,
there is nothing like that, might be the issue is with the display cable only and if it is then it is not very costly but if screen gone bad then it is better to go for new on so please get it checked by a nearby expert.
Thank You.

Can't restore factory intallations and settings: Vaio VGN-FE880E

Are you doing DESTRUCTIVE recoveries or are you doing NONDESTRUCTIVE recoveries? Try another hard drive in the machine and recover to that. Nondestructive recoveries replace the operating system without destroying the personal data. Its possible the original problem is propagating over to the recovered systems. Do a destructive recovery. Understand any data not backed up will be destroyed. Possible the original problem was a trojan virus.
