I have a BlackBerry 9530 Storm. I can make and receive calls, and recieve text messages but when I compose text messages they just sit in the outbox with a red cross indicating the text failed to send. No matter how many times I resend the message it fails to transmit. How can I fix this?

There are few reasons with this issue, it could be from the Service or it could be from the Text Message Settings. First remove the sim card and try it on another handset to verify it's working perfectly with messaging services. After it's cleared that there's no problem with the Sim Card messaging service, then check the message settings, i.e. Message Center. This time you need to copy/refer to a message center number from another phone with the same network (if you don't have another with you or with your family, ask a friend and open the message settings the, text message settings and enter the same number which you see on his/her phone's message center number settings). After you've made the changes, save the settings and try sending the text message again. Please note that the message center needs to start with the country code for example, if you are in australia, you have to enter 61 before the ten digits number.

If in case the same problem persists even on another handset, then you need to call the Customer care of your service provider (Network operator) to verify that there's nothing wrong with your messaging service.

If you need further help, let me know.

Good luck.

Thanks for using FixYa.

HI. This is really an issue with the the phone number format or the actual recipients phone service. You must be sure that the recipients phone number is correctly inserted into your device as displayed below:

XXX-XXX-XXXX Example: 742-887-8854 (Area code-prefix-suffix)

The area code must be inserted along with the actual number you are sending the message to. if not, the device and service will not be able to send the message to the target device, properly. The format of the entered phone number must be entered correctly as displayed above.

Now; if your format is correct, this will be an issue with that particular recipients phone service provider or some sort of network congestion. In this case, continue to send the message until it is accepted when the network congestion starts to level out or subside. Make sure you have not blocked that particular recipients phone number for any reason in the past and forgot to unblock it and pay attention to your phone signal bars. If the bars a lower than tow bars, you wont be able to send messages until your phone strength returns to four bars or above.

If none of these suggestions prove to be a positive reflection on the issue, you will then need to contact your nearest service provider for a repair ticket and hardware flash procedure.

OK, the correct format for that number you posted will be 04-2497-5454 if calling within the Australian borders. Where are you actually calling from?

  • Anonymous Aug 24, 2010

If you are calling from outside Australia, let me know so that i can give you the correct format. The formats for every country are different. Please let me know where you are calling form so that i may give you a proper format for you location.

I am calling from Australia to another Australian mobille phone, nothing I seem to do works, are there any other options I have to resolving the issue?

  • Anonymous Aug 24, 2010

The number must be inserted with hyphens as stated here. 0-4-2497-5454

If that doesn't work, power down the unit and remove the battery for 5 minutes. This will reset the program. once the 5 minutes are up, reinsert the battery and power up. Try it again and see if your can send the message. If it doesn't work, you will need to take the unit to the nearest repair station for a software update or service check. Also, make sure that the recipients device is operational and is expecting your message. if the recipients phone is off or the service is disconnected, the message will fail.

Make sure that the recipient has not blocked your number. If this is the case, your message will fail also.

Thanks for your help, I waited 10 minutes and reinserted the battery but to no success, I will have to take it into a repairer. Just so strange I can make/recieve calls and recieve txts but not send any texts. Thanks again

Seems like your phone network is locked which needs to be unlocked. This can be done through Blackberry unlocking codes with IMEI. You can unlock your Blackberry Storm 9530 from them since they provide trusted and affordable codes to all their clients. i hope this would help.

I think you entered wrong blackberry storm 9530 unlock code and your phone on hardlock state. You only have one option left to fix that, bring your blackberry phone to nearest local mobile repair shop and asking them to doing cable unlock. You will not need any blackberry unlock code again after that process.

I have a blackberry storm 9530 unlocked and i use it with tmobile but i updated the software and it wont call out or get calls but it receives text and voicemail notifications.

It was a common problem for unlocked blackberry storm 9530. You only need to reinstall your blackberry software since blackberry unlock code only unlock your phone network, all the remains software still use old network configuration.

Downloading Text Messages on my Blackberry Storm

No, you can't do this. The BlackBerry stores your text messages in a database file that isn't compatible with anything other than itself. The only way to get your texts off of the device (in any kind of read-able format), is to forward them to another phone.
