I tried that, they don't have a manual for this. It's basically a throw away machine I hate to say

Singer how to attach darning foot

It can be tricky, but it CAN be done. I'm not sure WHICH foot that you're trying to attach--an embroidery foot or a darning foot, but in both cases, there is a piece at the top of the foot that must be on TOP of the needle clamp screw, with the rest fastened at the side. It helps to remove the needle when you're doing this, but it's not absolutely necessary. Take the screw that holds the presser foot at the side all the way out, then line the foot up and reinsert the screw and tighten by hand as much as you can. At this point, it may APPEAR that it is on, but it probably isn't ALL the way on. It may also appear that it won't fit all the way on the needle shaft, but if you then take a straight-blade screwdriver and tighten all the way, it will snap on the shaft properly.

How do i install the darning foot?

Make sure that you have a darning foot that is compatible with your machine. I believe that the 7422 is a low shank foot; the appropriate daning foot is . Lift the presser foot and remove the foot currently on the machine, including the ankle. (Loosen the screw on the left side of the ankle.)

Place the darning plate over the regular plate and feed dogs. The pins should lock into the spots on the machine.

Place the U-shaped opening of the darning foot over the screw that you loosened previously. Then tighten the screw to hold the foot on the machine.

Lower the presser foot onto your fabric. Set your stitch length. Lower the lever on the right side of the darning foot and hold onto your top thread (assuming the needle and bobbin thread are already threaded.) Now sew.

I hope this helps.

How do I install my darning foot?

First, raise the presser bar, remove the presser foot, the presser foot holder and screw.

Turn the handwheel to bring the needle to its highest position.

Place the darning foot on the presser bar and make sure that the metal bar of the darning foot is above the needle clamp and put the screw back on and tighten.

As the needle bar raises and lowers, the foot will hop up and down slightly.

Make sure that you always lower the presser bar when using this foot. Lower the feed dogs also if your machine has this feature.

I have a Brother 270D too. I've had it for about four years and love it. It is a very picky machine sometimes and you have to treat it very delicately. I have had similar problems with the bobin in the past. Try removing the sewing plate by taking out the two screws that anchor it in. To accomplish this fhe first time, on my machine I had to use the flat head screw driver on my hubby's pocket knife because the screw driver that came with the machine had a handel that was too long to work with. After that, I kept the screws just tight enough to loosen easily with my thumb nail if I had to take them out, which I do on a regular basis. Now try removing the entire bobin case. Make sure your bobin case is not scratched! If if is, even a tiny scratch along the edge will cause major problems. This has happened to me, and you have to order a new one. I used an online dealer, spent $30 and my machine has worked great ever since. If your bobin case is not scratched, you are lucky and your culprit is most likely just fuzz or dirt. Try looking for any stray bits of thread that have gotten caught up under the bobin case or in the mechanisms inside the machine under the needle throught plate. If you had even one knot, odds are pieces of thread are still stuck inside somewhere. I use a can of compressed air to clean my machine on a regular basis and this keeps all the thread bits and fuzz at bay. You can also use the brushes that came with the machine and tweezers help too. Sometimes I just unplug my machine turn it uside down with the sewing plates off, and shake it gently. I am amazed at what come out! For some reason dirt seems to build up inside so clean it out regularly and you should have a much easily time sewing.

Adjusting Bobbin Tension

I looked forever to find this darn green bobbin screw. Around the opening for your bobbin is a plastic cover. If you slide it forward it will pop right off. Once you remove this, the bobbin case will lift right out. On the front you will see your green screw for adjusting your bobbin tension.
